Resumen rápido

Creak (The Stairwell) and Honcho (The Archives) both arrived with the agosto 28, 2026 actualización. This guía gives the wiki's damage, warning signs and step-by-step counters for each.

How to survive Creak and beat Honcho in DOORS

Creak is a stalker that never stops watching you in The Stairwell, and it kills on contact. Honcho is the boss of The Archives, and he drops you into a box-sorting chase that costs 70 damage if he wins. Beat Creak by watching it without staring. Beat Honcho by sorting boxes and shutting doors on him.

Both entities arrived on agosto 28, 2026, and they live on different floors, which is why a lot of guías blur them together. Everything below comes from the DOORS Wiki pages for The Stairwell and The Archives as they stood on octubre 24, 2026. For the other newcomers, see the Archives guide.

Creak: what it does in The Stairwell

The wiki calls Creak the main antagonist and main recurring entity of The Stairwell, the first subfloor of The Mines (entered from Door 152 of The Mines with a Skeleton Key, and from the Lobby since the Access Granted Update of octubre 2, 2026). Its type is listed as "Neutral (Fatal)" with the attack label "Shy". The journal describes a tall figure of concrete and rebar with a single glowing pupil, and the Stairwell page says the first entity most players meet is Creak, spotted by its bright white eye in the dark.

Its rule is simple and a little unfair. It only moves when you look away, closing the distance. When you look at it, it backs off. It also avoids light.

That gives you a leash. Look at Creak for a few seconds at low aggression and it runs several flights of stairs back. Look too long, or chase it until it has backed up for too long, and it charges you. Contact is instant death, and the wiki is clear that bandages do not help: its tips say a Bandage Pack is useless against Creak and Noise because both can kill you outright.

The warning signs

You have four signals before anything lethal happens:

  • The arms. Creak has a hidden aggression meter, and the arms show it. Hands up at its face means calm. The closer the hands are to the floor, the angrier it is.
  • The creaking. The journal says rebar scraping against concrete makes the sound, and that it helps you track where Creak is.
  • The sprint. If aggression gets high while you are not looking, you hear it sprinting up the stairs toward you.
  • The left hand. On a sneak attack, Creak's left hand enters your field of view from behind.

Step by step: surviving Creak

  1. 1Keep it in view, in short looks. Glance at it and confirm where it is. Do not hold the stare. The wiki states that a prolonged stare raises aggression rapidly.
  2. 2Read the arms every time you look. Arms at the face, carry on. Arms low, stop looking and let the meter drop.
  3. 3Do not crowd it. Being too close also increases aggression, according to the Notes. (The behavior paragraph on the same page says the meter drops when you get too close, so the wiki contradicts itself; follow the Notes and the Strategy section, which agree with each other.)
  4. 4Never walk past it. Getting behind Creak, such as going down the stairs past it, is an instant death regardless of its aggression. In multiplayer, if someone else is being stalked, getting behind it only kills you when it approaches you.
  5. 5When the left hand appears, turn around. If you do, Creak is scared off for a while and you earn the Paparazzi badge. If you do not, you die.
  6. 6Do not linger after a fire alarm. The wiki notes that if you take too long to leave a landing after pulling an alarm, Creak comes back while you move on to the next one.
  7. 7Respect the checkpoint doors. If you do not force the checkpoint door open for long enough, Creak teleports to you and kills you instantly.

Mistakes the wiki flags

Watching Creak spawn when it opens the blast doors kills you instantly. It can also open and close Meld doors, so a Meld wall does not protect you; the tips say Noise and Creak pass through Meld walls whenever they like. According to the tips, carrying scrap in a shopping cart limits your movement and can leave you exposed to Noise and, if you stop watching your surroundings, to Creak. And if it is hit by a crusher, it shoves the crusher away and recovers fast, so do not plan around traps.

Creak stalks one player at a time, and the wiki says the person being stalked is the one who has to stay alert. See the Stairwell guide for the rest of the floor.

Honcho: the boss of The Archives

Honcho is the first entity on the Archives page, and the actualización changelog labels him "the boss of The Archives." He is a flat, paper-like figure in a blue tie with a black redaction-bar square for a head. The wiki lists his damage as 70, and his journal says he calls you to his office, sends you to the mail room to work, then tries to break into the room while you do.

When he appears

Occasionally, when you reach the end of a sector, the elevator to the next sector is overridden. The wiki says this can happen as early as A-50 and as late as Y-50. The wiki words it as "occasionally" and gives a range that reaches Y-50, so do not assume you are safe after sector J.

Step by step: beating Honcho

  1. 1Take the overridden elevator. It leads to his executive office.
  2. 2Walk up to his desk. A cutscene plays: Honcho orders you to sort boxes into their respective depots, then throws you down a pit in the floor.
  3. 3Start sorting. He jumps down the pit and chases you while you carry boxes to the matching depot. The wiki describes sorting boxes into their matching depots, so read the depot labels in front of you.
  4. 4Shut doors on him. Hold the input key to override the doors and close them as he approaches. The journal backs this up: as long as you are out of the room by the time he gets in, you are fine.
  5. 5Finish before he reaches you. On success a cutscene plays where Honcho grabs you, stamps you and smashes you through the floor, and you continue the run.

If he catches you

The first-person jumpscare has him punch you in the face, brand you with a hot iron and smash you through the floor into the regular office rooms. The wiki describes the floor smash into the regular office rooms and lists 70 damage, so treat it as a costly mistake and not a free retry.

The Star Employee trick

If any player carries a Starlight Bottle, Honcho snatches it in the first cutscene and gets a glowing yellow aura after landing in the sorting room. Finish the whole challenge and every player gets the Star Employee achievement. Most Valuable Employee is the plain version: organize the Mail Room, no bottle required. The wiki also notes that if you reach Z-50 afterward, Honcho can be seen praying to Starlight.

One warning from the trivia: if Alma spawned before the Honcho sequence, she may appear during it, "causing massive issues." Do not stare at her while you sort.
