Update 29.0 Arrives Right Before the Holidays
Dropping on December 23, 2025, Update 29.0 โ officially the Control Update โ came at almost the perfect time. Two days before Christmas, most players had actual free time to dig in. When this dropped I spent the whole first day figuring out what changed, because this is one of those updates where the headline features are just the start.
The core identity is built around control โ Control was added to the Admin Panel, and the two new modes are built around structured, measurable combat rather than the open-ended grinding that defines most of Blox Fruits.
Dungeons and Wave-Based Combat
The bigger of the two new modes is the dungeon system built around wave-based enemy fights. You go in, waves of enemies come at you, you push through as far as you can. The mode supports both solo play and team play, which is a smart design call โ some players want the challenge of running it alone, others want to bring a crew. Both are valid approaches and the rewards scale based on how you perform rather than just how long you grind.
Access the dungeon by talking to Lucian or by opening the server browser and clicking the dungeon button in the bottom right. Performance-based rewards are the hook โ this mode evaluates how well you play, not just how long you grind.
The Second New Mode
Alongside the dungeon, Update 29.0 also introduced a second mode described across different sources as a PvP arena, a challenge mode, or a time-trial combat experience. The exact framing varies, but the common thread is that it is a more focused combat space than the open world โ somewhere players can test builds, compete against others, or chase a specific performance target.
This kind of dedicated combat zone has been something the community asked for over time, and having it tied to a reward structure makes it more than just a practice space. Whether your priority is PvP improvement or chasing the rewards tied to the mode, there is a reason to show up.
What This Update Means for the Game
Update 29.0 is a systems update in the best sense โ frameworks that change how you engage rather than just new items to collect. Wave-based dungeons and a dedicated combat mode give experienced players something to push against, and performance rewards mean there is always a reason to improve.
For players returning after a break, this is a solid update to come back for. Accessible enough to jump straight in, deep enough that there is replay value once you know what you are chasing.
