Gryphon — In-Depth Analysis
Gryphon is a noble A+ tier sword with a half-eagle half-lion thematic identity — swift in the air, savage on the ground. The blade is azure with gold griffon-wing etchings along the spine. M1 attacks alternate between aerial claw swipes and ground cleaves depending on whether the user is airborne or grounded, Z fires a wind-blade that accelerates over distance (stronger the farther it travels), X summons a griffon talon slam from above that pins the target for 0.5 seconds, and V activates Gryphon's Call — an aerial dive-bomb that summons a spectral griffon that circles the impact zone for 3 seconds dealing continuous damage. Exceptional aerial fighter.
Gryphon is tailor-made for the Skypiean race and the Skywalk or Geppo fighting style — the aerial M1 variant is significantly stronger than the ground version, so maintaining constant flight is the priority. Open every fight by taking to the air, Z at max range to begin distance-decay scaling, descend with X talon pin, then ascend again and drop V Gryphon's Call before re-engaging. Mastering the air-to-ground transition makes this one of the highest mechanical-skill-ceiling swords in Sailor Piece.
Gryphon drops from the Griffon King flying boss on Sky Island at a 5 % rate. The boss is airborne the entire fight and requires either flight abilities or ranged skills to contest effectively. Trade value is around 2–3 T3 Fruits with consistent demand from the sky-combat enthusiast subset of the player base who specifically build aerial loadouts.
