The Fisch rod progression in six stages
The question behind "best rod in Fisch" is always "best for what, and at which level?". This guia lays out the rods in roughly the order the wiki's Walkthrough suggests you reach them (several rods here, such as the Poseidon Rod, Heaven's Rod and Ethereal Prism Rod, are not in the Walkthrough at all, so we slotted them in by price and level), with cost, level or quest requirement, estatísticas and the reason each one matters. Our site has a full rod list and a best rods page if you want to sort by estatísticas. This one is the route: what to save for next.
Every figure is from each rod's wiki page as it stood when we wrote this guia. Estatísticas are Lure Speed / Luck / Control / Resilience / Max kg, "inf" is unlimited weight and "C$" is the in-game cash. The Walkthrough page says its content is for version 1.74.0, so later rods and any balance changes aren't in its ordering. The wiki is edited by players and some rod pages disagree with each other or with the Walkthrough; where that happens we say so. We haven't tested these rods ourselves.
## Stage 1: Moosewood starter rods
| Rod | Cost | estatísticas | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flimsy Rod | Free | 100% / inf / -0.72 / -1e+21% / inf | Starter. The wiki says it's best for collecting Exotics for the Bestiary and that it can also be used to get the Tryhard Rod |
| Carbon Rod | 2,000 C$ | -10% / 25% / 0.05 / 10% / 600 kg | The wiki calls it the best early-game rod |
The Plastic Rod (750 C$), Fast Rod (4,000 C$) and Lucky Rod are sold next to the Carbon Rod, and their wiki pages each recommend the Carbon Rod or the Steady Rod instead. The Long Rod (3,000 C$) page calls it a joke rod with intentionally underwhelming estatísticas. For the first steps, see our Fisch beginner guia.
## Stage 2: first real upgrades (7,000 to 100,000 C$)
| Rod | Cost and requirement | estatísticas | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steady Rod | 7,000 C$ in Roslit Bay | -60% / 35% / 0.05 / 30% / 100,000 kg | Largest Shake button of any rod, decent Resilience. The -60% Lure Speed means slow bites |
| Magma Rod | Free: Orc's Pufferfish quest | 45% / 55% / 0.15 / 0% / 1,200 kg | Can fish in Roslit Volcano lava and has a 10% chance of the Ember mutation (3x). The wiki recommends the Reinforced Rod for the volcano instead |
| Midas Rod | 55,000 C$ at the Travelling Merchant | 70% / 79% / 0.2 / -30% / 4,000 kg | Applies the Midas mutation to every fish. The wiki calls it a cheaper alternative to the Mythical Rod, but its trivia lists it among the worst rods to buy |
| Kings Rod | 100,000 C$ at the Keeper's Altar | 30% / 85% / 0.15 / 35% / inf | The Walkthrough says getting it puts you at the start of the mid-game. +30% fish size |
The Midas Rod's -30% Resilience makes it impractical for deep-sea fishing and strong fish, according to the wiki.
## Stage 3: the mid-game (150,000 to about 1.75 million C$)
| Rod | Cost and requirement | estatísticas | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trident Rod | 150,000 C$ in Desolate Deep; 100% Desolate Deep Bestiary and 5 Enchant Relics | 35% / 150% / 0.05 / 0% / 6,000 kg | 30% Atlantean mutation (3x) and a stab that helps with active fish. Relics can be bought from Merlin, which the page says brings the total to 205,000 C$ |
| Fallen Rod | 170,000 C$ in Tidefall | 70% / 95% / 0.12 / 30% / 80,000 kg | The page calls it a great all-rounder. The Walkthrough names it as the best recommended rod for the mid-game. Below Y-level -400: 50% Fallen mutation (6x) and +50% weight |
| Destiny Rod | 190,000 C$ in The Arch (Caleia); 350 Bestiary fish per its page, 70% of the Bestiary per the Bestiary page and Walkthrough | 45% / 250% / 0.2 / 10% / 177,777 kg | +10% Shiny/Sparkling chance. The page calls it a great option for Bestiary completion but also suggests saving for the Fallen Rod or Rod of the Depths |
| Poseidon Rod | 700,000 C$ in Atlantis, after Poseidon's Trial (placing six shark-type fish on pedestals); the page lists Level 100 in the infobox and Level 200 in the text | 50% / 165% / 0.2 / 40% / 100,000 kg | The wiki says it could outdo Heaven's Rod for money and XP |
| Rod of the Depths | 750,000 C$ in The Depths; an Abyssal and a Hexed Enchant Relic | 65% / 130% / 0.15 / 10% / 30,000 kg | Every third catch, a ghost brings a fish from your location. The page also asks for the full Vertigo Bestiary |
| Challenger's Rod | 750,000 C$ and level 110 in Challenger's Deep | 95% / 190% / 0.2 / 35% / 200,000 kg | +25% progress speed on any fish except forced-progress ones |
| Heaven's Rod | 1,750,000 C$ and level 220 in Glacial Grotto, after collecting four Energy Crystals | 65% / 250% / 0.2 / 30% / inf | 35% chance for the Heavenly mutation (6x). The page says it lacks Lure Speed |
The Destiny Rod's page says it needs 350 Bestiary fish (and notes it used to be 70%), while the Bestiary page and the Walkthrough still say 70% completion. Both can't be current, so check in game. See our Bestiary guide.
The Walkthrough's advice for this stage is to reach The Depths, Atlantis and Tidefall and buy a rod with great estatísticas. It names the Blazebringer Rod and, as the best recommended, the Fallen Rod.
## Stage 4: late-mid game (levels 250 to 500)
| Rod | Cost and requirement | estatísticas | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Great Rod of Oscar | 2,500,000 C$ and level 250 | 95% / 280% / 0.1 / 20% / 100,000 kg | Best XP rod per the Walkthrough, with a 1.35x XP boost |
| Ethereal Prism Rod | 3,500,000 C$ and level 250 in the Calm Zone | 95% / 195% / 0.25 / 40% / 250,000 kg | 50% chance for the Prismize mutation. A strong money rod |
| Cerulean Fang Rod | 800,000 C$ and level 400, only during Starfall | 75% / 190% / 0.25 / 35% / inf | Stab for 8% progress at a 40% chance on each fish movement, +15% progress speed, 15% Nova mutation (6x) |
| No-Life Rod | Reach level 500 | 90% / 105% / 0.23 / 10% / inf | 50% Hexed mutation (3x) and a stabbing passive. The page says Ethereal Prism Rod outclasses it for money, but it is still good for hard fish |
| Luminescent Oath | 1,000,000 C$, level 500, 100% Luminescent Cavern Bestiary | 85% / 200% / 0.1 / 12% / 250,000 kg | The Walkthrough's money-grinding target for this stage. The Walkthrough lists Luck 100% and Control 0.12 for it, the rod page lists 200% and 0.1 |
The Great Rod of Oscar page says its Luck and Lure Speed give it a near-instant catch, and it adds 30% progress speed and a 20% chance of the Oscar mutation (6.4x). The Rod of the Zenith (1,500,000 C$, level 150) has mediocre estatísticas, and its page recommends getting the Ethereal Prism Rod instead.
## Stage 5: late game (levels 750 and up)
| Rod | Cost and requirement | estatísticas | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ruinous Oath | 5,000,000 C$, level 750 (Walkthrough), full Shiny and Sparkling Crimson Cavern Bestiary | 95% / 300% / 0.08 / 25% / inf | A stronger Luminescent Oath. +4 Disturbance |
| Tryhard Rod | RoRed's three quests in Roslit Volcano, using the Flimsy Rod. The Walkthrough says any time after level 100; the rod page says at least level 999 | 80% / 399% / -0.37 / -500% / huge | +300% progress speed and a 100% Tryhard mutation (10x). The page says it needs control and resilience enchants to work properly |
The Walkthrough puts the Ruinous Oath and the Tryhard Rod as the two targets for this stage. To enter the Crimson Cavern you give the Crimson Guard a Crimson-mutated Colossal Blue Dragon, and the Walkthrough says appraising a normal Colossal Blue Dragon during a Mutation Surge is the best way to get one.
## Stage 6: end-game (level 1000)
| Rod | Cost and requirement | estatísticas | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Requiem | Crafted at the Ancient Archives for 15,000,000 C$ plus materials (Requies Essence x5, a Requiem Core, an Awakened Omnithal and a Fossilized Plesiosaur), level 1000 per the Walkthrough | 120% / 277% / 0.1 / 63% / 1,500,000 kg | The page calls its passives very strong. Hunt focus on Omnithal |
| Onirifalx | Nick's three quests in The Depths; level 500 for the second and level 1000 for the third | 777% / 277% / 0.17 / -inf / inf | +4 Disturbance. Negative Resilience boosts stabs |
| Fabulous Rod | Fabulous Deity's quests in the Calm Zone, level 1000 | 100% / 300% / 0 / 50% / inf | Fabulous mutation (9.6x), +3 Disturbance |
| Seraphic Rod | Reach level 1000 | 100% / 225% / 0.25 / 20% / inf | Near-instant catch. +8% progress speed |
| Masterline Rod | Finish the Bestiary and the Rod Journal (the Walkthrough excludes Secret, Apex, Limited and Divine Secret fish and limited-time rods), level 1000+ | 1000% / 350% / 0.15 / 50% / inf | 30% Ascended, 25% Blessed. The Walkthrough says its fishing ability may not be better than other end-game rods |
| Halibut Harpoon | 50,000,000 C$ from Doctor Monty in Monty's Lab, Deep area | 132% / 288% / 0.1 / 56% / inf | Three high-multiplier mutações. The wiki says it can fish from anywhere |
The Halibut Harpoon's wiki page is short: it says the quests involve catching many types of pufferfish, then catching and returning pufferfish with various mutações. The Monty's Lab page says Monty starts with a quiz and that the lab is reached through a window behind The Cartographer. The Walkthrough says the Masterline Rod is for players who finished the game and want to collect everything. Its page is also a stub.
## How to choose between rods at the same stage
- For XP, the Great Rod of Oscar.
- For money, the Walkthrough points at the Luminescent Oath for the late-mid game and the Ruinous Oath for the late game, while the Ethereal Prism Rod's page calls it a money-making all-rounder.
- For hunts, check the Disturbance and Hunt Focus values in our hunt fish guia.
- For enchants on any of these, see our enchanting guia.
