That near-zero cost makes it the ideal first crop for brand-new players who are still learning how the game works: planting a Carrot costs almost nothing, and even if you harvest late or miss a cycle, the financial loss is negligible. The catch is that Carrot is a single-harvest plant — after you pick it, you must buy and replant a new seed each time, so the 1-Sheckle cost is a recurring expense per harvest rather than a one-time purchase. For players just starting out, this forces them to actively return to the garden and replant, which is a great way to learn the game's core loop.
