Quick Summary

Which Grow a Garden 2 gears are worth buying: sprinkler and watering can stats, shop stock odds with average wait times, Halloween gear in Candy Corn and what is gone.

Gears are the functional items in Grow a Garden 2: sprinklers and watering cans that speed up crops, tools that move plants, mushrooms that change the player and gadgets for raids. Unlike props, they change how the game plays. The Gear Shop only stocks a random subset on each restock, so what matters is knowing which gears are worth waiting for and which stock odds make the wait reasonable. This guide ranks the gears by usefulness and lists the stock chances the wiki publishes.

How the Gear Shop works

The Gear Shop at the center of the map is run by George. Stock refreshes about every five minutes, and each gear has its own restock chance and stock range. A forced restock costs 39 Robux. A few gears are always available as one-time purchases, and premium Robux gears are permanently in stock. Most gears accept Sheckles or Robux; the Halloween world sells its own gears for Candy Corn.

Because each restock is an independent roll, the average wait for a gear with chance p is 1 divided by p restocks. At five minutes per restock, a 4% gear appears about every two hours and a 1.2% gear about every seven.

Growth gear: watering cans and sprinklers

Watering cans speed growth and remove decay. Sprinklers are placed on the plot, last two minutes and boost growth speed and size luck inside their radius.

Legendary1,200,0002204x65404%2 hours
Super300,0003995x100551.2%about 7 hours

The Super Sprinkler costs fewer Sheckles than the Legendary one; its barrier is the 1.2% stock chance, not the price. If one appears, buy it.

Stacking rules from the wiki: placing a second sprinkler of the same type near a crop that already has one does not stack, but overlapping sprinklers of different types do add their growth speed and luck. The wiki's published size code limits luck to a maximum of 100, so a Super Sprinkler alone already reaches the cap for size luck. According to that code, extra sprinklers on top add growth speed but no further size luck.

The Cider Watering Can and Cider Sprinklers are the Ghoul Garden copies, priced in Candy Corn (2,000 to 3,000,000). The Syrup versions from Fall Harvest are marked not obtainable.

Utility gear worth owning

GearPriceStock chanceUse
Trowel1,000 Sheckles28%Moves crops in the garden
Basic Pot300,000 Sheckles7%Lets the player pick up a fully grown plant and carry it
Gnome100,000 Sheckles8%Placed guard that damages intruders for 10 minutes
Megaphone8,000 Shecklesone-timePlays sounds
Wheelbarrow500,000 ShecklesalwaysCarries another player; needs a friend in the server

The Trowel is the cheapest quality-of-life gear and should be among the first purchases, because it lets crops be rearranged without replanting. The Sign (4,000 Sheckles) is a permanent gear for plot messages.

Mushrooms

The five mushroom gears change the player for a short time and are all inexpensive.

  • Speed Mushroom: 1,500 Sheckles, 22% stock chance, faster walking.
  • Jump Mushroom: 1,800 Sheckles, 24%, higher jumps.
  • Shrink Mushroom: 10,000 Sheckles, 10%, makes the player small.
  • Supersize Mushroom: 20,000 Sheckles, 10%, makes the player large.
  • Invisibility Mushroom: 30,000 Sheckles, 4%, temporary invisibility.

Mushroom stack sizes range from 1 to 5. They matter mostly for night raids and escapes, not for income.

Raid and defense gear

The Strawberry Sniper (13,000,000 Sheckles or 1,349 Robux) stops thieves repeatedly with a 3-second cooldown. The Flashbang (20,000 Sheckles), Vine Wrapper (499 Robux), Power Hose (299 Robux), Freeze Ray (749 Robux), Rainbow Carpet (599 Robux), Player Magnet (7,000,000 Sheckles or 1,149 Robux) and Grappling Hook (479 Robux) are mostly for chases. The stealing guide covers each one.

The Candy Basket is consumed on use, and a failed trick jumpscares the player for a second. Its bonus for the Daily Deal is capped at 2,000,000.

Magic Mail gears send an item from an event world back to the Garden Valley mailbox. The Rare (500,000 Candy Corn, 7%), Legendary (5,000,000, 1%) and Super (100,000,000, 0.015%) versions matter if a rare seed or pet is stuck in an event world.

Gone from the shop

The wiki marks these as no longer obtainable: Teleporter, Lantern, Crowbar, Rake, Door Crowbar, Harp, Bull Horn, Wind Staff and the Syrup watering cans and sprinklers. Older lists that recommend the Teleporter or the Rake are out of date.

Reading stock odds

Stock chance is the real price of the rare gears. The Legendary Sprinkler costs 1,200,000 Sheckles, but a 4% chance means an average two-hour wait, and the Super Watering Can at 2% averages over four hours. Those waits are averages, not guarantees: the same roll can land twice in a row or miss for a day. Checking the shop right after joining, and again whenever a restock timer ends, catches most appearances. Gears with a one-time purchase, such as the Megaphone and the Wheelbarrow, never need that patience.

Buying order

  1. 1Common Watering Can (2,000 Sheckles) and the Trowel (1,000).
  2. 2Common and Uncommon Sprinklers; both appear often enough to restock within minutes.
  3. 3Gnome for guard duty before leaving the garden at night.
  4. 4Rare Sprinkler (80,000 Sheckles, about 20 minutes wait).
  5. 5Legendary and Super Sprinklers, and the Super Watering Can, whenever one appears. Use them on a full garden of expensive crops so the two minutes count.
  6. 6Late game: Basic Pot and Strawberry Sniper.

Common mistakes

  • Using a Super Sprinkler on empty plots. The two minutes run whether or not crops are planted.
  • Placing two of the same sprinkler together. They do not stack.
  • Skipping the Common Watering Can. At 2,000 Sheckles it is the cheapest decay fix.
  • Waiting for the Teleporter. It is removed.
  • Forgetting the cap on size luck. Extra luck beyond 100 does nothing.
