The Pterodactyl is a Mythical pet that was obtainable from the Dinosaur Egg or from the DNA Converter. However, the Dinosaur Egg and the Pterodactyl, along with the other pets that comes within the egg can no longer be obtained from the DNA Converter.

The Pterodactyl is one of the toughest pets in Grow a Garden to actually own today, because its only sources have both been retired. It was a Mythical-tier pet pulled from the Dinosaur Egg, and for a window it could also be crafted through the DNA Converter — but the Dinosaur Egg and every pet inside it, the Pterodactyl included, have since been removed from the Converter's pool.
That dual removal is the whole story for collectors. With no live egg and no Converter route, the Pterodactyl is now effectively a legacy pet, obtainable only by trading with players who hatched or crafted one while the Dinosaur Egg was active. That scarcity is what gives it value: anyone offering one is dipping into a fixed, shrinking supply, so expect to pay a premium in trades.
If you are chasing the dino theme, treat the Pterodactyl as a trophy rather than a farm goal. There is no grind that produces it anymore, so the realistic plan is to bank trade-worthy pets or sheckles now and watch for a holder willing to deal — and to verify authenticity, since retired pets are exactly the kind scammers fake.
