The Starfish is a Common pet from the Summer Update, and its numbers are refreshingly honest about what it is: a 50% chance from the Common Summer Egg with 1,500 Hunger. That coin-flip rate makes it the single most reliable thing you can pull from its egg, which is exactly what you would expect from the common anchor of a summer pool.

The 1,500 Hunger figure is the more interesting stat. Hunger determines how much food a pet needs to stay fed, and a higher pool here means the Starfish is comparatively cheap to maintain before it asks to be refilled, which is a quiet plus for newer players who do not yet have a steady food supply. Combined with a 50% hatch rate, the Starfish is essentially the freebie of the Common Summer Egg, not a chase target.

The honest verdict is that nobody opens the Common Summer Egg for the Starfish; they open it hoping to dodge it on the way to the rarer summer pets. Still, it serves a real purpose: it is a low-upkeep, easy-to-obtain body for early collection slots and a safe pet to experiment with before you commit resources to the higher tiers in the summer lineup.
