Tips & Strategy(6)

  • โ—If you plan to play a long game (100s of days) then you should focus on hunting Mammoths whenever you can (assuming you have the Level 3 bonus) as the infinite health boost can make you almost invincible but it is time-consuming to achieve.
  • โ—This class does not work well with others, as you're in competition with pelts that they want to trade with the Pelt Trader.
  • โ—With just three bunny feet, the player will be faster than assassin but without the health penalty.
  • โ—You can discover whether you have Snow or Volcano biome at the start of the game by using your Pelt List. Or you could do the usual trick of checking the back of the missing kids noticeboard.
  • โ—The fastest way to get from a Level 1 Big Game Hunter to a Level 3 is playing multiple games with a small fire and clear all bunnies and wolves near camp, and not bother expanding into the alpha wolves or bear areas of the map. As for the killing wolves requirement, standing on a tree branch or similar camping spot and shooting down on the nighttime's wolves spawn will speed up your progression.
  • โ—In team runs, the higher pelt drop rate can be used to help teammates get pelts to complete the Pelt Trader's quests.

Big Game Hunter โ€” In-Depth Analysis

The Big Game Hunter is the premium all-rounder of 99 Nights in the Forest, the priciest in this group at 600 Diamonds. It comes superbly equipped from the start with 1 Rifle, 12 Rifle ammo, and a Pelt List, the last of which is the heart of the class: it lets you consume animal pelts for permanent stat bonuses. That self-buffing loop is what makes it support itself in almost every area.

The perks all deepen the hunting economy. Level 1 unlocks pelt consumption for permanent gains, Level 2 raises your pelt drop rate, and Level 3 lets you infinitely consume mammoth tusks for permanent health. On long runs spanning hundreds of days, stacking mammoth tusks can make you nearly invincible, while just three bunny feet already make you faster than an Assassin with no HP penalty.

Pick the Big Game Hunter if you want a self-sufficient class that snowballs over time and prefer extended survival runs. It is a poor team fit, since you compete with allies for the pelts they want to trade. But solo, it is one of the strongest long-game investments, rewarding patience with permanent, ever-growing power.
