Missing Children
Entity in 99 Nights in the Forest
About
The Missing Children are four children kidnapped by The Deer. One of the main objectives of the game is to rescue them. The day counter increases by 1 for each child rescued. After being rescued and settling within the Campfire's radius, the child will walk to a specific spot at the edge of the Campfire's visible light and set up a tent. You may move the tent with the hammer tool, but not paint it. The tent color is different for each child. DÑ–no Kid has a red tent, Kraken Kid has a blue tent, Squid Kid has a yellow tent, and Koala Kid has a purple tent. The tent order doesn't change. For example, if Kraken Kid is rescued before Dino Kid, she will have a blue tent instead of a red one.
Missing Children — In-Depth Analysis
The Missing Children are not a threat at all, but they are arguably the single most important objective in 99 Nights in the Forest. Four kids were kidnapped by The Deer, and freeing them is the whole point of a survival run. They carry no HP or damage stats because you never fight them; instead you locate them out in the world and escort them back to safety.
The key mechanic to remember is that each rescued child advances the day counter by one, which is why getting them home is what actually pushes the run toward its conclusion. Once a child reaches the Campfire's radius, they settle at the edge of the light and pitch a tent. Tent colors are fixed to identity rather than rescue order: Dino Kid red, Kraken Kid blue, Squid Kid yellow, Koala Kid purple.
Practically, prioritize rescues alongside food and defense. You can reposition a settled tent with the hammer tool but you cannot repaint it, so don't waste resources trying. Treat the children as fragile cargo, keep monsters off the escort path, and bank each rescue as soon as the camp is secure.
