Best Class Tier List โ€“ 99 Nights in the Forest (2026)

Picking the right class when you load into 99 Nights in the Forest can be the difference between reaching Day 99 and getting wiped on Day 15. This tier list ranks every class on a mix of survival value, combat output, team utility, and how forgiving they are for newer players.

S-Tier Classes

Berserker (100 Diamonds)

The Berserker starts with a Medkit and gets an auto-revive on first death at Level 1 โ€” that alone makes it worth 100 Diamonds. Level 3 adds a damage boost when your HP is low, which can turn losing fights around. The auto-revive stacks especially well in solo runs where nobody is around to pick you up. Highly recommended as your first purchase.

Medic (40 Diamonds)

At just 40 Diamonds, the Medic is the cheapest high-impact class in the game. 5ร— faster revives at Level 1 means a downed teammate is back up in seconds instead of sitting out for a full minute. Level 3 upgrades a Bandage into a Medkit for better heals. In any multiplayer server, having at least one Medic is practically mandatory.

Explorer (80 Diamonds)

The Explorer gets +2 sack space, a larger map view, and a speed boost after leaving fog โ€” all at Level 1. Level 3 lets you see and open chests through walls, which is absurdly strong for looting runs. Reduced hunger drain away from the campfire at Level 2 means you can stay out longer and cover more ground. One of the best values in the game per Diamond spent.

Assassin (500 Diamonds)

The Assassin starts with a Katana (25โ€“32.54 damage) and 120 Throwing Knives, plus a 10% sprint speed bonus and only a 15% HP penalty. Level 2 adds a first-hit critical chance, and Level 3 bumps Kunai chest spawn rates to 10%. The Kunai deals 35 damage at a fast throw rate, making this class an absolute monster for clearing Cultist raids. Expensive at 500D but the single best combat class once you can afford it.

A-Tier Classes

Brawler (100 Diamonds)

+40% HP and +30% melee damage at Level 1 make the Brawler feel like a tank. The trade-off โ€” can't use ranged weapons โ€” stops it from reaching S-tier, but for players who prefer face-to-face combat with a Morningstar or Obsidiron Hammer it is excellent. Level 3 adds a 5% block chance.

Ranger (70 Diamonds)

Starts with an Old Flashlight, Revolver, and 18 ammo. Having a gun on Day 1 is massive for early Wolf and Cultist encounters. Level 2 refunds 10% of ammo on every shot, and Level 3 gives 30 ammo at spawn. Very solid value for the cost.

Beastmaster (400 Diamonds)

Lets you keep up to 5 pets and summon Wolves with just 3 Steak. Level 3 makes your first Wolf an Alpha Wolf (125 HP, 25 damage, walkspeed 26). A fully leveled Beastmaster with five pets is effectively a small army. Requires investment in both the class and in keeping animals fed, but the payoff is enormous.

Cyborg (600 Diamonds)

Starts with a Laser Cannon (70โ€“87.5 damage, AoE) and Alien Armor. Night vision at Level 1 and increased alien tech damage at Level 2. Extremely powerful in late-game alien invasion events.

Big Game Hunter (600 Diamonds)

Starts with a Rifle and gets permanent stat bonuses from consuming pelts (Level 1). Higher pelt drop at Level 2 and infinite Mammoth Tusk health stacking at Level 3. Best in class for long survival runs where you are farming animals consistently.

B-Tier Classes

Nightcrawler (200D) โ€” speed, night vision, and damage in darkness at Level 1 synergize well with The Deer being more aggressive at night. Level 2 reduces enemy detection at night, and Level 3 makes The Deer less likely to target you. Great for solo players who master night rotations.

Vampire (600D) โ€” starts with Vampire Cloak and Vampire Scythe. Lifesteal plus faster movement at night can make you nearly unkillable in the dark. Expensive for what it offers compared to Berserker or Assassin.

Chef (150D) โ€” unique recipes give powerful food buffs. The Carrot Cake grants Night Vision for 9 minutes plus a 10 HP heal. Pumpkin Soup keeps you warm for 2 minutes. Great support class in dedicated servers.

Blacksmith (200D) โ€” crafting one tier ahead (Level 1) is huge for reaching Iron and Gold gear faster. Two recipe discounts at Level 2. Underrated for base-building focused runs.

Lumberjack (70D) โ€” 20% bonus log chance and 25% chance for double saplings. Campfire upgrades need hundreds of logs, so this class pays dividends all run.

C and D Tier Notes

Scavenger (25D) is the cheapest class in the game and the +2 sack space is genuinely useful, but Explorer does the same thing plus a lot more for only 55 more Diamonds. Pick Scavenger only if Diamonds are very tight.

Engineer (1,000D) is the most expensive class in the game and builds turrets from gears and scrap. The payoff is decent in a fortified late-game base, but the 1,000 Diamond entry cost makes it a luxury purchase. Do not prioritize this.

Pyromaniac (600D) โ€” the Flamethrower deals only 8โ€“18 damage per tick and burns through Fuel Canisters fast. Fun to use but weak compared to other 600D options.

For most players the safest investment path is: Scavenger (25D) โ†’ Medic (40D) โ†’ Berserker (100D) โ†’ Explorer (80D) and then save for Assassin or Beastmaster.
