Despite sitting in the mutations table, the Raptor is a legendary pet rather than a crop effect, introduced during the Prehistoric Event. It was obtainable two ways: hatching the Dinosaur Egg with a roughly 35% chance, or crafting it through the event's DNA Converter, making it one of the more accessible legendaries of that limited window.

That 35% hatch rate is generous for a legendary, which is the key to the Raptor's value story. Players who farmed Dinosaur Eggs during the event could reasonably expect a Raptor within a few hatches, so it never reached the scarcity premium of the event's rarer dinosaurs. The DNA Converter route also gave anyone short on egg luck a deterministic fallback, further keeping supply healthy.

Because the Prehistoric Event has ended, the Raptor is no longer obtainable through normal play, shifting its worth toward collection and trade value rather than farm utility. As a fully fledged pet it occupies an active slot and contributes a pet bonus while equipped, so it remains useful, but with so many in circulation it is a solid keeper rather than a chase-worthy trophy. Prioritize rarer event pets if your slots are limited.
