About Digging Rewards

Digging is a game mechanic first introduced during the second week of the Halloween Event on Update 1.28.0. It allows players to dig up blocks to obtain a variety of event-exclusive rewards, including seeds, gears, crates, and pets, each with their own chances. Digs can be increased by using a Dig Trinket or a Goblin Miner. Players can perform up to a maximum of 10 digs per event, making each attempt valuable for obtaining rare items. The mechanic was later reintroduced in the Smithing Event, retaining similar functionality with event-specific rewards.

Digging Rewards — In-Depth Analysis

Digging Rewards is not a crop you plant but an event mechanic, first added in week two of the Halloween Event on Update 1.28.0 and later reused in the Smithing Event. That changes how you think about its "economy" entirely: instead of a seed cost and sell price, your currency is the hard cap of 10 digs per event, and each dig rolls a weighted table of seeds, gears, crates, and pets.

The smart play is treating digs like a limited resource you should never waste on a low buff state. Because output is determined by chance rather than growth time, the real economic decision is whether to spend a Dig Trinket or a Goblin Miner to increase your number of attempts before the event ends. With only ten base pulls, every extra dig meaningfully raises your odds at the rare pet and gear tiers, which are worth far more than the common seed drops.

Plan your digs late in the event once you understand the reward pool, and prioritize attempts when boosters are active. Unlike a renewable crop, this opportunity vanishes when the event closes, so unused digs are pure lost value.
