Quick Summary

Secret spawns 0.02% base; Lucky Spawn III pushes it to 0.5%, cutting expected wait from ~3 hours to ~6 min per sighting. Exact rates, upgrade math, and the workflow that works.

When I first started hunting Secrets in Steal a Brainrot, I thought the conveyor was just randomly generous or stingy on any given day. Then I actually looked at the numbers. Turns out the spawn rates are completely deterministic — you can calculate exactly how long a grind should take, and more importantly, you can change those odds meaningfully with the right upgrades. This guide gives you the actual rates, the upgrade math, and the workflow I use for Secret hunting specifically.

Base spawn rates (no upgrades)

These are the baseline percentages on a fresh server with zero base upgrades active:

RarityBase % per spawnExpected spawns to see 1
Common60%1.7
Uncommon25%4
Rare10%10
Epic3.5%28.5
Legendary1%100
Mythic0.4%250
God0.08%1,250
Secret0.02%5,000

A spawn happens roughly every 2.5 seconds. At those base rates, you'd expect to see a Secret about once every 3.5 hours of constant watching on a fresh server. Mythic and God are grinding-feasible without upgrades. Secret is not — you need Lucky Spawn III before hunting gets realistic.

Upgrade modifiers (April 2026)

Base upgrades multiply your luck. Here's the full upgrade tree:

UpgradeCostEffect
Conveyor Speed I$50K+25% spawn rate
Lucky Spawn I$200K+30% rare-tier weight
Conveyor Speed II$1M+50% spawn rate (replaces I)
Lucky Spawn II$5M+60% rare-tier weight (replaces I)
Lucky Spawn III$50M+120% rare-tier weight (replaces II)
Aurora Pulse (event)event-locked+200% Secret weight, 30 min duration

Effective rates with full upgrades

With Conveyor Speed II + Lucky Spawn III active:

RarityEffective %
Common35%
Uncommon25%
Rare17%
Epic12%
Legendary6%
Mythic3.2%
God1.1%
Secret0.5%

That's a 25x improvement on Secret rate compared to the no-upgrade baseline. Let that sink in. Lucky Spawn III is not optional if you're hunting Secret tier — it's the single most impactful upgrade in the game.

The actual Secret grind math

With a fully upgraded base:
- Spawn rate: ~1 brainrot every 1.7 seconds (Conveyor Speed II active)
- Secret rate: 0.5%
- Expected spawns to see 1 Secret: 200
- Expected time to first sighting: 200 × 1.7s = 340 seconds, about 5.7 minutes

But sighting isn't the same as acquiring. You still need the cash on hand, the brainrot needs to land somewhere you can reach, and you're competing with every other player in the server. Realistically — with full upgrades, active grinding, and a reasonable server — expect 30–60 minutes per Secret acquisition.

I've had sessions where I snagged two Secrets in 40 minutes. I've also had sessions where I saw one in 2 hours because I was in a crowded server and someone else grabbed both before I could react. The math averages out, but individual sessions vary a lot.

Event-tier modifiers

Events are the real lever here. They stack on top of your base upgrades:

  • Cyber Event (active 2026): +50% to event-tagged brainrots
  • Easter Event: +75% to seasonal Secret spawns
  • Christmas Event: +60% to Mythic+ tier
  • Aurora Pulse Hour: +200% to Secret specifically, for 30 minutes

Aurora Pulse stacks with your Lucky Spawn III. During an active Aurora Pulse, your effective Secret rate jumps dramatically — a 30-minute session can yield more Secrets than 10 hours of base grinding. I schedule my whole week around Aurora Pulse windows when they're active. Worth blocking out the time.

How to maximize your effective spawn rate

Three principles that matter more than anything else:

  1. 1Buy Lucky Spawn first, always. Every hour you spend grinding without Lucky Spawn III is a slower path to high-tier brainrots. This is the highest-ROI upgrade in the game, full stop.
  2. 2Stack event modifiers. Time your active sessions around live events. A 2x rate from an event modifier means half the grind time for the same outcome.
  3. 3Use auto-buy when available. Manual reaction time costs you spawns. Every second you spend clicking is a second someone else can grab what you were targeting.

Server population and what it means for hunting

Different server sizes have different dynamics:

  • Empty servers (1–5 players): Lower competition, easier to claim spawns, but slightly lower variance
  • Mid servers (10–15 players): Balanced spawn frequency and competition level
  • Full servers (20+ players): Highest spawn frequency but the most competition

For Secret hunting specifically, I target 10–15 player servers. Enough spawn frequency, low enough competition that I can realistically claim 80% of what I see. Full servers burn me out — I end up watching Secrets get taken by faster clickers too often.

The Secret-hunting workflow I actually use

  1. 1Buy Lucky Spawn III first — nothing else matters until this is done
  2. 2Check the event calendar and time sessions around Aurora Pulse windows
  3. 3Carry maximum cash — Secrets run $5M–15M and missing one because you're broke is genuinely painful
  4. 4Server-hop after each Secret acquisition to reset the spawn pool
  5. 5Sell low-tier brainrots aggressively to keep your cash buffer liquid at all times

Step 4 is the one most people skip. Server-hopping takes 30 extra seconds but the spawn pool reset is worth it.

Common spawn-rate mistakes

Buying Conveyor Speed before Lucky Spawn

Conveyor Speed just makes things spawn faster — the rare-tier distribution stays the same. Lucky Spawn changes the distribution. Always buy Lucky Spawn I before Conveyor Speed I. This seems obvious once you know it but I definitely did it backwards on my first account.

Grinding past event windows

Event modifiers cut off exactly when the event ends. The rates drop back to baseline the second the clock hits zero. Don't grind an extra hour after an event closes expecting event-rate spawns — you're just wasting time.

Tying up cash in Commons

If you have $8M in Common brainrots and a Secret spawns at $12M, you can't buy it. Keep at least $10M liquid at all times during Secret hunting sessions. Sell the Commons first, then farm.

What's next

Once you know the rates and your base is fully upgraded, the next layer is turning those spawns into long-term income through mutations. Pair this guide with the existing Mutations Tier List for the full picture on what to do with whatever you pull from the conveyor.
