How to get into The Stairwell in DOORS
The Stairwell has two entrances on the DOORS Wiki. The Mines route is a manhole cover at Door 152, opened with a Skeleton Key on a Skull Lock. Since the Access Granted update on outubro 2, 2026, the Lobby also leads there. Door 152 belongs to The Mines, not The Hotel.
That answer rests on the wiki's Stairwell, Skeleton Key, Mines and Access Granted pages, plus the Stairwell page's edit history. Where the wiki says nothing, this guia says so instead of filling the gap. The floor itself has its own page at /games/doors/floors/the-stairwell.
Why guides disagree about the Stairwell
Three things moved under every writer's feet. The floor launched on agosto 28, 2026 with the Archives Update, and the first guias went up that weekend. The wiki's own entrance text then changed on setembro 2, setembro 4 and outubro 2. And around outubro 5 the floor shrank from about 200 landings to about 100. A guia frozen at any of those dates is wrong today, each in its own way.
| Question | What some guias say | What the wiki says now | Why they differ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Is the Lobby an entrance? | No. Grind N Strat (agosto 29) says the Lobby is not an option. | Yes. The intro says "accessed via The Mines or via the Lobby", and the Access Granted changelog says the floor is now accessible through the lobby. The edit that added it is dated outubro 2, 2026, 19:07 UTC. | Grind N Strat was written five weeks before the atualização, and it was correct that day. |
| Is a Skeleton Key required? | Required (doorsroblox.wiki, outubro 5), or free from the Lobby (DOORS Atlas) | The Overview says a key is required, and the Skeleton Key page lists the Door 152 lock as a Skull Lock. For the Lobby route the wiki does not say. | Two routes now exist, and each guia describes one of them. |
| Is there a Door 169 entrance? | Yes, from The Outdoors (the wiki's own text said so from setembro 2 to setembro 4). | No. The Door 169 text was removed on setembro 4, 2026, 17:52 UTC. Today's rule: an entrance can spawn in a side room after Jeff's Shop. DOORS Atlas puts the lucky hatch near Doors 170 to 180; the wiki gives no numbers. | Arriving from The Outdoors drops you in the Mines' Jeff Shop, which sits past Door 152, so an entrance after the shop had to exist for that route (my reading). The wiki later replaced the fixed door number with the random side-room rule. |
| How many landings? | About 200 (Item Level Gaming, setembro 3: reach the two hundredth flight; doorsroblox.wiki, outubro 5: Cobbler at Landing 199) | 102 rooms, 103 with Cobbler's Shop. Cobbler sits on Landing 99. The infobox keeps the old figure as "Previously 199 (200 if counting the starting room)". | The wiki's Update Logs for outubro 5, 2026 say the Stairwell is "now 100 flights". Guias from before that, or copied from them, keep 200. |
| What happens when you die? | Item Level Gaming (setembro 3): you go back to The Hotel with no revive | The Access Granted changelog lists "reviving to some subfloors" and does not name them. | Unconfirmed for the Stairwell. Treat both claims with care. |
One mix-up worth heading off: Door 152 sits in The Mines (its rooms run from Door 101 to Door 200), while the Skeleton Key you need is bought in The Hotel's Jeff Shop at Doors 53 to 59, so "Hotel", "Jeff Shop" and "152" end up in the same sentence. No single guia is blamed here. The Hotel ends at Door 100, the Electrical Room.
Most of these guias were probably right on their publish date. Check the date before you trust a number.
Step by step: entering from The Mines
- 1Get a Skeleton Key before you leave The Hotel. Jeff's Shop in The Hotel always stocks one for 300 Gold, and you can hold only one at a time. Louie also trades keys: a Starlight Jug guarantees one, a Starlight Bottle or Moonlight Candle gives 50%, and other items give 33.33% or 25%. The key has 5 uses. See /games/doors/items/skeleton-key.
- 2Don't burn the key early. A Skull Lock costs 4 of the 5 uses, and an ordinary lock costs 1. Skull Locks also guard Rift entrances in The Hotel and The Mines, and the Archives entrance in room 60 of The Hotel. Open one of those and you may reach Door 152 with a nearly empty key. A key with fewer than 4 uses left still opens a Skull Lock, so a nearly spent key can still get you in. You can only hold one key at a time, so the next one has to come from a shop, a container or Louie.
- 3Reach Door 152. Count from the Nest: Door 150 is The Nest, 151 the room after it, 152 the Stairwell entrance. The Jeff Shop page puts the shop at Doors 153 to 162 (The Mines' room list says 154 to 162), so the shop comes after the door you want and the key has to be in your pack before Door 152.
- 4Find the manhole cover and use the key. The wiki describes a manhole cover marked with a Skeleton Key. The entering animation looks almost exactly like the Archives one, minus the locks and the sign.
- 5Landed past it? If you arrive from The Outdoors you start in the Mines' Jeff Shop, after Door 152. Look for a side entrance in the rooms that follow. These appear as subrooms with a smaller manhole cover and a shorter walk, and they can spawn again even after you've beaten the Stairwell in the same run. The wiki gives no door numbers for them.
Entering from the Lobby
The Access Granted changelog says the Stairwell is "now accessible through the lobby" and that a Pre-Run shop was added to it and to The Archives. The wiki's Elevator page lists the Stairwell as an elevator entrance. What the wiki does not state is whether this route costs a Skeleton Key. DOORS Atlas says it is free; that is a third-party claim, not something the wiki backs. The Archives Update changelog does say all subfloors "will be free as long they have been discovered", which points the same way but never mentions keys.
What the floor looks like inside
The wiki counts 102 rooms, 103 with Cobbler's Shop, though the floor can loop forever. The wiki lists Landings 1 to 98 as concrete Staircase Modules. Each landing ends at a gate. A terminal beside the gate opens it, and Meld can block the way until you clear it. Creak breaks through the large metal door once you reach Landing 10. Cobbler waits on Landing 99, in the last room before the exit back to The Mines.
Salvage drives the economy. You pick up trash and Large Items, then grind them at a Depot Scrapper for 1 to 5 scrap per disposable item. The wiki's Super-Size Me walkthrough has 75 scrap fetch 750 Gold from Cobbler, which works out to 10 Gold a scrap. An earlier Depot Salvage Chute paid 25 Gold per item and was removed on outubro 2, 2026, replaced by the Scrapper.
The Stairwell's entities, with the numbers
| Entity | Threat | When it shows up | What the wiki says to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Creak | Instant death. Type: Neutral (Fatal). | After the metal door at Landing 10. Stalks one player at a time. | It creeps closer when you look away and backs off when you look at it. Don't stare: lowered arms mean higher aggression. Never get behind it. If its left hand enters your view, turn around to scare it off. |
| Meld | Not lethal. Blocks the landing gate. | Some landings. | A Fire Alarm incinerates all of it. A lit Candle, Flare, Lighter or Lantern forces it open but angers it, and its veins slow you. |
| Noise | Instant death. | Guaranteed inside a Depot Room, from a television. One per player. | It copies your path and pauses when you stop. Roll its TV down a staircase, or let the Fire Alarm burn it. |
| Stem | 5 damage per hit. | 1 to 4 can spawn when you open a container. Rare gold ones exist. | Pick one up and throw it four times to pop it. |
| Cobbler | None. Passive. | Landing 99. | Pull the Fire Alarm and he points you to it. Trade scrap for Gold at his shelf. |
| Hijack | Instant death. | Only after you insert the CD-1 disc from The Archives into Noise's television. | Faster than Noise and it doesn't freeze when you stand still. It stops at random. Burn it with the Fire Alarm. |
| Cobbler's Silhouette | Harmless. | Rare, in Depot Rooms or on staircases. | It throws glowsticks and pushes carts. Staring at it, or the sprinklers, makes it vanish. |
Hijack is the optional one. The wiki's route: reach room S-050 in The Archives, open the laptop with Ransom inside, click the S icon and press Eject to get the disc, then carry it to the Stairwell. It is tied to the REDACTED badge, covered in the achievements guia.
How many entities does the Stairwell have?
The answer depends on what you count. Every number below shows up in the wiki, in a guia or in my own tally of the wiki page, and each one is defensible for a different list. Where a source doesn't state a number, the count is of the names it lists.
| Count | Where it comes from | What it counts |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | doorsroblox.wiki (outubro 5) lists three under "Key Entities"; Item Level Gaming (setembro 3) has three entity sections | Creak, Noise, Stem. Meld is described separately, and Cobbler only appears at the exit. |
| 4 | The wiki intro on setembro 1 | Creak, Noise, Stems, Cobbler |
| 5 | Grind N Strat (agosto 29) | "Five entities", with four seen at the time |
| 6 | The wiki intro (since setembro 2); Roblox Den (outubro 22) lists the same six | Creak, Noise, Stem, Cobbler, Hijack, Meld |
| 7 | The wiki's Unique Entities tabs | Those six plus Cobbler's Silhouette |
| 9 | The wiki's List of Entities, Stairwell tab. DOORS Atlas also lists nine, with a different list. | Creak, Meld, Starlight, Noise, Stem, Cobbler, World Lotus, Hijack, Ransom. Atlas swaps Meld and World Lotus for Glitch and Portrait. |
| 14 | My count from the wiki Stairwell page, every named creature | The 7 unique ones plus 7 guests: Curious Light, World Lotus, Ransom, Portrait, Glitch, Charles, Vacuum |
| 15 | The wiki's log line for the Archives Update | Entities added across both The Archives and The Stairwell. The line lists 16 names: 10 for the Archives, 6 for the Stairwell. |
The 15 is the one that misleads. It's an atualização total, and the atualização added two floors. The wiki dates Charles to outubro 10, 2026, eight days after Access Granted.
My reading: plan around six entities that live only on this floor, with Hijack as an opt-in seventh threat. The guests (Curious Light, Glitch and the rest) appear for their own reasons. Portrait, for instance, shows up if you carry it down from The Archives or shatter a pocket mirror. Vacuum near broken stairs is harmless.
Hazards worth knowing
| Hazard | Numbers | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Fire Sprinklers | 10 damage per tick for 28 ticks, 280 in total | A Fire Alarm triggers them. A siren sounds, and the blast doors of the Fire Escapes close after 12 seconds (the Room Mechanics section says within 15). Stand inside a Fire Escape. The sprinklers stun Creak, destroy televisions and burn Meld. |
| Crusher | Instant death | Super rare, added outubro 2, 2026. Never appears in Meld landings. Creak can tank it and push it away. |
What the wiki still doesn't say
- Whether the Lobby route needs a Skeleton Key.
- Which door numbers the side entrances use.
- Whether reviving works inside the Stairwell.
- The exact siren delay: 12 seconds in one section, 15 in another.
- What triggers the Paperclip Challenge badge. The Depot section says using a Depot for the first time; the badge text says trading with Cobbler.
For the floors around it, see The Mines, the Archives guide and the entities guia.
