Magma Tang guide
Roslit Volcano is where Magma Tang lives, and the listing says it is extremely common in the lava, with a resting body temperature of 950C. You fish it during the day, in any weather, in Spring or Summer, using Coal as bait.
It is an Uncommon fish with a modest return. At an average of 3 kg (1 to 6.3 kg) and C$43.3 per kg, a catch sells for C$78, rank 608 of the 742 documented fish, with a maximum weight of 513 of 663. The 90 base XP is the better part of the deal for a newer angler.
Only one rod is sold in the zone, the Tryhard Rod, which makes it a simple starting point if you want to equip on arrival. No other fish of the same rarity is listed for the area, so your Uncommon catches here are likely to be Magma Tang whenever the conditions fit.
My advice is plain: use it as a stepping stone. Stock Coal, go in the daytime and farm a handful for the XP while you learn the volcano. Selling them brings small change, so do not rely on them for income. Move on to rarer fish once your gear improves.
