It is one of the more atmospheric mutations to spot because of its trigger: a Gloom crop emits both purple and yellow particles at the same time, a moody two-tone shimmer that is unmistakable once you know what you are looking for.

What makes Gloom worth chasing is that x30 is large enough to meaningfully reshape a harvest, yet it stacks multiplicatively with environmental and growth mutations the way other color-based effects do. Layered on top of a Golden or Rainbow base and any active weather bonus, a single Gloom fruit can swing from a routine sale into a standout payout. Because it does not overlap with the temperature or weather families, you can carry it alongside Frozen, Wet, or Shocked without losing the bonus.

For value-focused players, Gloom sits in a satisfying middle ground: rarer and far stronger than the common x1–x5 effects, but not so vanishingly rare that you will never see it. If a high-value crop rolls Gloom, hold it for a stacked sale rather than dumping it early.
