How to Get the Rainbow Mutation in Grow a Garden
The Rainbow mutation is the most important mutation in the game. On its own it gives a base 100x multiplier when stacked with Wet/Chilled/Chocolate/Moonlit. But the real reason everyone wants it: Rainbow + Shocked = 5,000x. That's 5,000 times your crop's base value.
Here's every way to get it.
TL;DR: The main way is the Rainbow Fertilizer from the Forever Pack. Secondary ways include the Rainbow Lollipop and specific weather conditions. It's a rare mutation โ don't expect it every harvest.
Method 1: Rainbow Fertilizer (Most Reliable)

The Rainbow Fertilizer is a gear available through the Forever Pack. When applied to a crop plot, it gives crops in that plot a chance to generate with the Rainbow mutation on harvest.
The Forever Pack is a subscription-style Robux purchase. Check the Limited Time Shop to see if it's currently available. It's one of the best value packs if you're an active player because it gives ongoing Rainbow Fertilizer access.
How to use it:
1. Purchase the Forever Pack and claim your Rainbow Fertilizer.
2. Select it from your inventory while standing near your garden.
3. Apply it to the soil around your crops.
4. Harvest as normal โ Rainbow will appear on some crops at random.
The frequency isn't guaranteed โ it's a chance-based application, not a 100% conversion.
Method 2: Rainbow Lollipop
The Rainbow Lollipop is listed in the Forever Pack bundle (positions 37-119 depending on pack tier). It directly applies Rainbow mutation to a crop when used. Think of it as a single-use guaranteed Rainbow application.
These are rarer than the fertilizer and shouldn't be wasted on low-value crops. Save them for your best Divine or Mythical tier crops to maximise the multiplier effect.
Method 3: The Pig Mutation (Special Case)

This is interesting: the Pig pet mutation has a 50x multiplier and "continuously cycles through the colors of the rainbow." The wiki describes it as a rainbow-cycling visual. While not technically the same as the Rainbow mutation, it stacks similarly and some players confuse the two. The Pig pet applies this through proximity to your crops.
Stacking Rainbow โ The Real Goal
Once you have Rainbow on a crop, the game opens up:
| Additional Mutation | Final Multiplier |
|---|---|
| Rainbow alone | ~20-100x base |
| + Wet / Chilled / Choc / Moonlit | 100x |
| + Frozen | 500x |
| + Shocked | 5,000x |
| + Shocked + Frozen | 5,450x |
| + Shocked + Frozen + Celestial | 11,400x |
The Shocked mutation comes from the Thunder weather event. Frozen comes from snow/ice weather or the Flower Froster Sprinkler. Stack all three and you're looking at five-digit multipliers.

Tips for Chasing Rainbow
Use the right crop. Rainbow on a Carrot worth 10 sheckles gets you 1,000 sheckles. Rainbow on a Pitcher Plant worth 7.5 million gets you 750 million. Invest in high-rarity crops before seriously chasing this mutation.
Watch weather events. When Thunder hits, your crops have a chance to get Shocked. When Rain hits (x120 base), crops get the Wet mutation which stacks with Rainbow. Plan your harvest timing around weather.
The [Grandmaster Sprinkler](/games/grow-a-garden/gears/godly-sprinkler) massively increases mutation chances. At 1 billion sheckles or 279 Robux it's endgame gear, but it makes Rainbow appear far more often.
Is Rainbow Worth Chasing as a New Player?
Honestly, no โ not yet. New players should focus on building up their crop rarity first (get to Legendary/Divine tier) and upgrade their sprinkler to at least Godly before worrying about Rainbow. The Rainbow Fertilizer requires the Forever Pack which is a real-money purchase.
Mid-game players who've cleared Legendary crops and have a Godly or Master Sprinkler should absolutely target it. At that point the returns justify the effort.
