Grow a Garden: How to Trigger Every Weather Event (2026)
Weather events are one of the biggest drivers of crop value in Grow a Garden. When Rain hits, crops get the Wet mutation (part of the x120 stack). When Thunder hits, crops get Shocked โ the second piece of the 5,000x Rainbow + Shocked combo. This guide covers every event and how they work.
TL;DR: Most weather happens automatically on a server timer. Some events can be triggered by specific pets, items, or NPC interactions. Keep high-rarity crops planted during active weather.
How Weather Works
Weather events rotate automatically across all servers. When one starts, you'll see a visual change and a notification. Most last a few minutes and apply their mutation to crops that are currently planted and in-range.
You can't fully control the weather, but you can:
- Time your planting around expected weather
- Use pets that trigger specific weather-adjacent effects
- Use items that simulate weather effects
- Stay in servers where certain events are running more often (community tip)
The Most Important Weather Events
Rain (Wet Mutation โ x120 Solo, Much More Stacked)

Rain applies the Wet mutation. Alone it's great. Stacked with Golden + Shocked it becomes part of a 2,020x combo. Stacked with Rainbow + Shocked it hits 5,050x. This is the weather event you most want active when your best crops are growing.
How to maximise: Have your Legendary+ tier crops planted before Rain hits. Harvest immediately after the event ends to capture the mutation before anything overwrites it.
Thunder / Lightning (Shocked Mutation โ 2,000x with Golden, 5,000x with Rainbow)
The Thunder weather (tied to the Lightning Rod gear and certain storm events) applies the Shocked mutation. This is the single most valuable standard mutation because of how well it stacks:
- Golden + Shocked = 2,000x
- Rainbow + Shocked = 5,000x
- Rainbow + Shocked + Frozen = 5,450x
If Thunder is active and you don't have Rainbow crops yet, at minimum make sure your Mythical or Divine crops are planted.
Bee Swarm (Pollinated Mutation)

During Bee Swarm, worker bees visit gardens and apply the Pollinated mutation at 10x craft speed. The Bee pet significantly boosts this. Having a Bee pet active during Bee Swarm is the correct play โ it amplifies both the speed and reach of the mutation application.
Pollinated is part of many high-multiplier stacks (it appears in the 26,800x Rainbow stack). Every Pollinated crop is worth keeping.
Fairies (Glimmering Mutation)
Fairies weather applies the Glimmering mutation to random crops. This is a cosmetic-adjacent mutation but it's also part of stacking chains. The Fairy pet and Glimmering Sprite pet can extend the effect.
Cooking Weather (Aromatic / Cooked Mutation)
Kitchen Storm Weather doubles cooking time and randomly applies the Aromatic mutation to crops. The Cooked mutation has its own multiplier slot in the stacking chains. If you use the cooking mechanic seriously, this weather is very valuable.
Zen / Corrupted Zen (Corrupt Mutation)

Every 30 seconds of the Zen Channeller event, an orb applies the Corrupt mutation to a random crop. Corrupt is part of the 121,050x max stack. The Zen Channeller pet/item can trigger this manually outside of the standard weather rotation.
NPC Birthday
When the NPC Birthday event triggers, feeding the NPC opens their special shop. You can only feed them once per event. This event doesn't apply crop mutations directly but gives access to limited items.
Chubby Chipmunk Event
Activating this reduces the Chubby Chipmunk pet's cooldown to 30 seconds. Very niche โ only relevant if you have that specific pet.
Mega Harvest / Harvest Points Event

Doubles cooking speed and applies Christmas food return bonuses. Harvest during this event for bonus points used in seasonal scoring.
Halloween Market
Opens the Halloween Market during October/Halloween season and makes the Ancient Jack O Lantern appear. Gives access to time-limited crops and cosmetics.
Safari Joe Event
Safari Joe arrives and lets players submit pets for random rewards. 2x harvest points from submissions. Extremely valuable during the Safari Harvest Event 2025 since points double.
Crafting / Smithing Event
5x crafting speed. If you're using the crafting mechanic to create gear components or upgrade items, stack your crafting during this event.
Tips for Maximising Weather
- 1Keep your best crops planted โ weather only affects planted crops, not ones in your inventory
- 2Don't harvest right before an event โ wait until after the weather mutation is applied
- 3Watch the server โ if you're in a server where Rain is happening frequently, stay there
- 4Use Bee pets during Bee Swarm โ automatic synergy
- 5The [Advanced Sprinkler](/games/grow-a-garden/gears/advanced-sprinkler) increases mutation chances including weather-applied ones
