About food

Food is one of the features added to the game. Players can use different types of crops to make food using a Cooking Pot for cooking. Food can be used in a variety of ways, such as meeting Crafting requirements, feeding Pets to regain their hunger, selling it at the Sell Stand, or feeding NPCs during their birthdays for rewards.

Event Weather

food — In-Depth Analysis

Despite living in the weather list, Food is a crafting mechanic rather than a sky event — you turn harvested crops into dishes at a Cooking Pot. That makes it one of the most controllable "events" in Grow a Garden: you decide when it fires by choosing what goes into the pot, so there is no waiting on a random roll.

The value comes from stacking ingredients. Higher-rarity and heavily-mutated crops carry their multipliers into the finished dish, so a pot loaded with Gold or Rainbow produce yields food worth far more than the raw crops sold individually. Because finished food satisfies Crafting requirements, refills pet hunger, sells at the Sell Stand, and is the currency for NPC birthday rewards, a single batch can serve four different goals at once.

To capitalize, treat the Cooking Pot as a profit converter: hold your most mutated harvests for cooking instead of dumping them raw, keep a buffer of common filler crops to complete recipes cheaply, and time big cooks around NPC birthdays so the same dish that feeds a pet also banks event rewards.
