Resumen rápido

Every MM2 box with its godly and Chroma, prices, keys, drop chances as the wiki prints them, which boxes are in the shop now, and how to pick one by contents.

MM2 boxes: what is in the shop and what is gone

Murder Mystery 2 has eleven permanent boxes in the shop, each costing 1,000 Coins, 100 Diamonds or 1 Mystery Key. Every one holds a single godly (Mystery Box 2 holds two) at 0.2%, plus a Chroma twin at 0.004%. Evento boxes last only as long as their evento, and their Chroma odds are often listed as unknown.

That is the short version. The rest of this page lists each box, its godlys and the chances the wiki prints, then flags the spots where the wiki disagrees with itself. For the weapons themselves, the godly weapons list has a page per item, and the cajas section has one page per box.

How MM2 boxes work

A box is a shop item that gives one random weapon per opening. The wiki's Boxes page says they used to be called cajas, and each one holds a fixed set of knives, guns or both. Rarities run from common up through uncommon, rare, legendary and godly, with Chroma sitting above godly as a recolored twin of the box's godly.

The chances printed on the box pages follow one pattern for almost every modern box:

RarityItems in the boxChance printed per item
Common470%
Uncommon315%
Rare210%
Legendary15%
Godly10.2%
Chroma godly10.004%

Those figures are per item, and they do not add up to 100%. The wiki never explains the arithmetic, so treat them as the wiki's own labels rather than a clean probability table. Mystery Box 2's page notes that commons went from 60% to 70% and uncommons from 25% to 15% in one actualización, and that the change hit every box. The Summer Event 2026 page also says a septiembre 1, 2026 actualización introduced a "chance per item" system, and no box page explains what that changed. If exact odds matter to you, check the in-game box screen.

Season 1 (mayo 25, 2019 according to the Season 1 page) gave every shop box a Chroma version of its godly. Before that actualización the numbered boxes cost 200 Coins; afterwards they moved to 1,000.

Boxes in the shop right now

The Boxes page lists eleven unboxable boxes: six knife boxes, three gun boxes and two mystery boxes. The wiki calls the first nine "Classic" and the last two "Season 1". The price for all eleven is 1,000 Coins, 100 Diamonds or 1 Mystery Key.

A few details that help when choosing:

  • Mystery Box 2 arrived with the marzo 2020 actualización and is the only permanent box with four unboxable godly-tier items (two godlys and two Chromas). Its page also says its weapons cannot be salvaged or crafted.
  • Mystery Box 1 was the first box added with Season 1. Mystery Box 1 and 2 are the only two boxes that hold Season 1 weapons; every other permanent box holds Classic weapons.
  • The Rainbow Box is the only permanent box without a number in its name. It replaced the Chroma Box on agosto 6, 2016. Its page says it used to cost 200 Coins before Season 1.
  • Knife Box 1 and Gun Box 1 were the first knife and gun boxes ever added, originally priced at 75 Credits according to their pages. A shop bug once labeled Gun Box 1 as "Knife Box 1".

How keys work

Keys are a currency that pays for a box instead of Coins. The Keys page says they were introduced during the Christmas Event 2017.

The Mystery Key is the only permanent key. You can buy it in the shop for 125 Diamonds or trade for it, and it opens any of the eleven permanent boxes above. It does not open evento boxes. The Keys page prices a Mystery Key at 125 Diamonds, while opening a box with Diamonds directly costs 100, so buying keys with Diamonds costs more than paying for the box. Keys also come from certain evento tiers, which is the other way to get one.

Evento keys are different. The Snow Key, Vampire Key, Alien Key, Summer Key and others each open only the box of their own evento (the Snow Key covers the Christmas boxes from 2019 onward), and the Keys page says they do not work outside eventos. The 2026 Halloween Box uses the Halloween Key, which the Keys page says comes from evento tiers or from packs and bundles.

The evento box open during Halloween 2026

The Halloween Event 2026 runs from octubre 18 to noviembre 16, 2026, and its 2026 Halloween Box is the only crate in the evento. It costs 600 Candies or 1 Halloween Key. The tier chances are different from older boxes: commons at 70%, uncommons at 18%, rares at 8% and a legendary at 4%. The godly is Embersickle at 0.2%, and the Chroma Embersickle is listed at 0.004%.

The evento page adds a second route to Chroma weapons: crafting in The Cauldron. The Chroma weapons list shows every Chroma and how it was released.

Retired seasonal boxes

Seasonal boxes left the shop with their eventos. Their weapons can only be obtained by trading now. The table gives the price the box page states and the godly chances as printed. A "<" means the wiki says the exact chance is unknown.

Some patterns the table shows. The 2018 Halloween Box was the first Halloween box with a Chroma inside, and the 2021 Halloween Box was the second. The wiki calls the 2019 Halloween Box the most expensive Halloween box in MM2 history at 1,000 Candies. The 2018 Christmas Box is one of the few seasonal boxes that opened only with its key. The Christmas Event 2015 page notes that, unlike any future evento, it offered two separate cajas, one with knives and one with guns.

Rarity tiers also changed over time. The 2016 and 2017 Halloween boxes and the 2018 Halloween Box list commons at 60% and uncommons at 25%, while later boxes use 70% and 15%. From the 2026 boxes onward, uncommons sit at 18%, rares at 8% and the legendary at 4%.

Boxes that left the permanent shop

These boxes were removed, most of them in the Season 1 actualización. The Boxes page says the weapons from each one (except the MLG Box and the Chroma Box) can still be found through trading.

Choosing a box by what it contains

The wiki gives the same headline odds for every permanent box, so the useful question is which weapon you want, not which box pays best. A few ways to decide:

  • You want a specific godly. Open the box that holds it. The table above is the lookup. Gun fans have Gun Box 1 to 3 plus both Mystery Box 2 godlys; knife fans have Knife Box 1 to 5, the Rainbow Box and Mystery Box 1.
  • You want a gun and a knife in one box. Only Mystery Boxes 1 and 2 hold both types. Mystery Box 2 is the one with two godlys and two Chromas.
  • You want Season 1 weapons. Only Mystery Box 1 and Mystery Box 2 hold them. The Classic boxes hold Classic weapons.
  • You want a Chroma. Every permanent box lists the Chroma at 0.004%, so choosing between them comes down to which Chroma you would rather chase. Mystery Box 2 lists two.
  • You want an evento item. Only the evento box currently in the shop is open. Right now that is the 2026 Halloween Box until noviembre 16, 2026. Once the evento ends, the weapon is a trading-only item.

What the wiki does not tell you is how a box compares in value. Item values come from community value lists, which are outside the wiki and change over time, so this page leaves them out. What the wiki does say drives rarity is origin, obtainability and release year, and a retired evento godly is simply harder to obtain than a box you can still open.

Where the wiki contradicts itself

You will run into mismatches if you read several box pages. These are the ones that matter, with both versions.

Chroma chances differ by page and by year. The permanent boxes all say 0.004%. Evento boxes from 2018 to 2022 say "<1%" with a footnote that the exact chance is unknown. The 2023, 2024 and 2025 Halloween boxes say "<0.2%" with the same footnote. The 2025 Christmas and 2026 Valentine's boxes say "<0.1%". The 2023 Christmas, 2024 Summer and 2025 Summer boxes print a flat 0.2%, which is the same number as the godly. The 2026 boxes, Summer and Halloween, go back to 0.004%. Taken together, the wiki does not give a single Chroma chance that applies to every evento.

Chroma Constellation. The 2024 Christmas Box page shows "???" for the Chroma Constellation chance, while the Christmas Event 2024 page prints "<0.2%".

2015 Christmas box prices. The Boxes overview lists the 2015 Christmas Knife Box and Gun Box at 75 Gifts. Each box page says 75 Gifts before the official release (diciembre 14 to 19) and 30 Gifts afterwards. The Christmas Event 2015 page says both boxes cost 30 Gifts to open and mentions no 75 Gift pre-release price.

evento box counts. The Boxes page text says there have been eighteen evento boxes (eight Halloween, nine Christmas, one summer), but its own evento table has 25 rows, including Valentine's and several summer boxes. The table is the more current of the two.

Pet Box. Its page says the box was removed when Season 1 arrived and replaced by hatching a Common Egg, then also says it is currently purchasable for 1,000 Coins. Treat it as removed.

Chroma Sunrise. The Chroma Sunrise page calls the 2025 Summer Event "ongoing", while the Summer Event 2025 page says it ended on octubre 18, 2025 and the box page is tagged as a removed feature. The same page's trivia also calls Sunrise a godly knife, but the Chroma Weapons table and the box table list Sunrise as a gun.

Frequently asked questions

How many boxes are in MM2?

The Boxes page lists eleven permanent boxes in the shop: Knife Box 1 to 5, the Rainbow Box, Gun Box 1 to 3 and Mystery Box 1 and 2. On top of those, the wiki has a page for every seasonal evento box since 2015, plus several boxes that were removed from the shop.

What are the drop chances in an MM2 box?

For permanent boxes the wiki prints 70% per common, 15% per uncommon, 10% per rare, 5% for the legendary, 0.2% for the godly and 0.004% for the Chroma. Evento boxes use the same pattern in most years, and the Chroma chance for them is often listed as unknown.

Which MM2 box has the most godlys?

Mystery Box 2 has two godlys (Lightbringer and Darkbringer) and two Chromas, which the wiki calls the most of any permanent box. Every other permanent box has one godly and one Chroma.

What is the best box to open?

The wiki lists the same headline chances for all eleven permanent boxes, so the best one is the box that holds the weapon you want. Mystery Box 2 is the one to pick if you want the most godly-tier lines in a single box.

Can I still open old evento boxes?

No. Evento boxes leave the shop when the evento ends, and the weapons inside become trading-only. The 2026 Halloween Box is open until the Halloween Event 2026 ends on noviembre 16, 2026.

What does a Mystery Key do?

It opens any of the eleven permanent boxes in the shop but not evento boxes. The Keys page says you can buy it for 125 Diamonds or trade for it.

Puntos clave
