Going by what the wiki says about beginners, The Strongest Hero is the best-supported pick in The Strongest Battlegrounds (TSB). Both its Characters entry and its own page name beginners, it has the lowest awakening requirement (200 damage points against the standard 350), and it's the character you start with. Deadly Ninja and Hero Hunter also get beginner praise on their pages, with caveats.
The ranking comes from four things the community wiki states in writing, read on 24 octubre 2026 and organised by us. Each one is a column in the table below. Where the wiki contradicts itself, the text says so.
How the pick is made
A beginner tier list built on opinion is easy to write and hard to trust. This one uses only what the wiki puts on the page:
- 1Does the wiki recommend the character to beginners? This is the recommendation line on the Characters page and on each character's own page. If a page says "not recommended for beginners", that counts against the character.
- 2How much damage fills the awakening meter? The wiki gives 350 points as the standard, 200 for The Strongest Hero, and either 420 or 450 for Brutal Demon. A smaller number means your awakening arrives sooner.
- 3How fast does the first M1 start? The wiki lists M1 startup in frames for most characters. Nine frames is labelled "very fast", 15 is labelled "slow".
- 4What is the base damage total? The Characters page ranks every character by the maximum damage its four base moves can deal. It's a ceiling, not an average, and it says nothing about how hard those moves are to land.
If you want the underlying numbers for any character, the full TSB characters list has every move and cooldown. For where each character ranks in the community, see the tier list.
The numbers side by side
| Character | Wiki recommendation | Awakening meter | M1 startup | Base damage total (rank) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Strongest Hero | Beginners and experienced players | 200 | 11 frames | 67.3 (6th) |
| Hero Hunter | Beginners on its intro, intermediate and advanced elsewhere | 350 | 12 frames | 73.3 (3rd) |
| Deadly Ninja | Beginners on its Pros list, none on Characters | 350 | 15 frames | 58.3 (10th) |
| Brutal Demon | Advanced players | 420 or 450 | 13 frames | 61.4 (9th) |
| Blade Master | Not for beginners, high skill floor | 350 | 15 frames | 62.5 (8th) |
| Hero Hunter (Monster Form) | Experienced players, not beginner-friendly | 350 | not stated | 60.6 (10th) |
| Destructive Cyborg | None stated | 350 | 13 frames | 89.5 (1st) |
| Wild Psychic | None stated | 350 | 9 frames | 45.1 (12th) |
| Martial Artist | None stated | 350 | 12 frames | 65.1 (7th) |
| Tech Prodigy | None stated | 350 | 14 frames | 89.2 (2nd) |
| Undying Hero (Early Access) | None stated | not stated | 13 frames (axe), 12 (pistol) | 69.7 (5th) |
Three notes on that table. First, the 350 figure comes from The Strongest Hero's page, which calls it the standard for every character except Brutal Demon; the other character pages mostly don't repeat it. Second, the Characters page numbers its ranking oddly: Monster Form (60.6) and Deadly Ninja (58.3) are both labelled 10th, and no entry is labelled 11th. Third, KJ's total of 70.5 sits between Hero Hunter and Undying Hero in that list, but KJ is not something a new player can pick, so it's left out.
The Strongest Hero: the only character both pages recommend to beginners
The Strongest Hero (the Saitama character) is the only entry where both the Characters page and the character's own page recommend beginners. The Characters entry calls it "ideal for beginners and experienced players". The character page says it's a good choice for both, because "many find it easy to pull off combos with him" and it lets you get familiar with the controls. The example combo it gives is 2-4-1: Consecutive Punches, Uppercut, then Normal Punch.
The numbers back that up. Its awakening, Serious Mode, needs 200 damage points because of the Superhuman passive, and landing finishers fills the meter by a large amount. Its M1 starts in 11 frames, which the wiki lists as fast, and the Characters page calls it the second-fastest M1 speed in the game. Its four base moves are Normal Punch (31%, 20 second cooldown), Consecutive Punches (up to 14.5%, 15 seconds), Shove (6.9%, 10 seconds) and Uppercut (15%, 20 seconds).
The Characters entry also lists what you give up. The Strongest Hero lacks reach and mobility. Serious Mode lasts indefinitely unless you die or use a move, but you can't regenerate health during it, and you get one awakening move per activation (Death Counter, Table Flip, Serious Punch or Omni Directional Punch), each single-use. The same entry describes those skills as safe on failure.
Deadly Ninja: praised for newcomers, with a warning attached
Deadly Ninja is the second name that shows up. Its Pros list calls it "a highly effective character for those new to the game", says its moves are easy to chain together, and names it "an ideal choice for beginners". Its intro says the opposite about mastery: it takes precision and skill. The Characters page gives no recommendation at all.
What the Characters page does say is useful for a beginner. Deadly Ninja has no single-use attacks in its awakening, Can You Even See Me, which the Characters page says makes mistakes much less punishing. The awakening lasts 42 seconds on the character page. Against that, the M1 starts slowly at 15 frames, its base total is the second-lowest ranked at 58.3 (53.3 with the aerial Explosive Shuriken), and its unblockable attacks are limited and take a long windup.
Hero Hunter: the wiki can't agree
Hero Hunter (the Garou character) is where the wiki flatly contradicts itself. The intro says that because it has a limited moveset and easy-to-master combos, it's "generally an ideal choice for beginners". A later paragraph on the same page says it suits intermediate and advanced players, and the Characters page says the same, because its limited attack range makes it hard to control space. The page also carries Stub and Upcoming Rework banners, so any of this text may be out of date.
If you pick Hero Hunter anyway, the data is good: a 12-frame M1, a 73.3 base total (3rd) and the Bloodlust passive, which regenerates health when you land a finisher. The meter is the standard 350. That's a character the wiki can't decide how to classify, not one it rejects.
Characters the wiki says to skip for now
Three pages say so directly:
- Brutal Demon: "typically not a very beginner-friendly character", with a playstyle built around combos. It also has the highest awakening requirement: Pumped Up needs 420 damage on its own page and 450 on The Strongest Hero's page, with a passive that adds ultimate gain when you take damage.
- Blade Master: a high skill floor that depends on timing and precision, "not recommended for beginners". The Characters page frames it for players with a deep understanding of the game's mechanics.
- Hero Hunter (Monster Form): not beginner-friendly because most moves, Doom Dive especially, need precision and the right timing. The Characters page calls it an ideal choice for experienced players.
Characters with no recommendation
Destructive Cyborg, Wild Psychic, Martial Artist, Tech Prodigy and Undying Hero have no beginner line on either page, so this method can't rank them. The silence isn't a verdict. The data it does give is worth knowing: Wild Psychic has the fastest M1 startup on the list (9 frames, described as the fastest in the game) but the lowest base total (45.1), while Destructive Cyborg and Tech Prodigy lead the damage ranking at 89.5 and 89.2. Tech Prodigy's 89.2 rises to 112.9 once its upgraded Railgun and Tactical Storm are counted.
The basics every beginner needs
Whichever character you choose, the official Roblox description lists these controls: left click to punch, F to block, Q to dash, double-tap W to run, G for ultimate mode, and B for the emote wheel. Pressing Q while ragdolled is the ragdoll cancel, which the community also calls an evasive. A server holds a maximum of 15 players.
The wiki's Basic Combat page adds figures to learn early. Holding M1 gives a continuous combo of up to four hits, and a full string deals 14% (3% + 3% + 4% + 4%). Forward dash and back dash share a 5-second cooldown; the side dash has a 2-second cooldown. Ragdoll lasts 2 seconds. Blocking is a hold on F that covers a 180-degree arc in front of you and cuts your movement speed greatly.
Once you've picked a character, the next step is techniques; see the TSB techs list.
FAQ
What is the best character for beginners in TSB?
The Strongest Hero, according to the wiki. Its Characters entry and its own page both recommend it to beginners, its awakening needs only 200 damage points (the standard is 350), and you start with it.
Is Hero Hunter good for beginners?
The wiki disagrees with itself. Its intro calls Hero Hunter an ideal beginner choice because of easy combos, while a later paragraph and the Characters page say it suits intermediate and advanced players.
Is Deadly Ninja good for new players?
Its Pros list says so and calls it an ideal choice for beginners. Its intro says mastering it takes precision, and the Characters page gives no recommendation. Its awakening has no single-use moves.
Which TSB character has the fastest M1?
Wild Psychic, with a 9-frame startup that the wiki describes as the fastest in the game. The wiki measures this differently elsewhere: the KJ page claims the fastest basic attacks in terms of impact execution, on par with The Strongest Hero, and the Martial Artist page calls its M1 one of the fastest. The Strongest Hero follows at 11 frames. Several characters, including KJ and Monster Form, have no frame count listed.
Which character deals the most damage with its base moves?
Destructive Cyborg, at a total of 89.5 on the Characters page, with Tech Prodigy second at 89.2 (112.9 with Railgun and Tactical Storm). That total is a maximum, not a typical result.
