Old Radio — In-Depth Analysis
The Old Radio is a pure scrap item, so don't expect any survival effects from it. It won't fill your hunger, warm you up, or fight off anything in the night. Its only real purpose is feeding the Grinder, where it breaks down into 4 scraps per radio. That makes it a modest but reliable source of crafting material rather than something you'd hold onto.
Where it shines is availability: it spawns across three different biomes, appearing in the Forest, Snow, and Volcano zones. Because it shows up almost everywhere you roam, you'll naturally accumulate Old Radios just by exploring, and there's no need to go out of your way hunting for them.
Is it worth grabbing? Only if you're running low on scrap and pass one on your route. Four scraps is decent for a single pickup, but a radio takes up an inventory slot that could hold food, fuel, or a weapon. Scoop it up when you're heading back toward your Grinder anyway, then dump it for crafting fodder. Skip it entirely if your bag is full of higher-priority survival gear, since the radio offers nothing in a pinch.
