Twisted Squirm appears on the ceilings. Getting too close to him will cause him to reach down and grab the player. Clicking side to side quickly enough will let the player go, otherwise, Twisted Squirm damages them. After Twisted Squirm grabs a player, or if left alone for long enough, he traverses to a different area.

Twisted Squirm guide
Squirm lives on the ceiling and attacks from above. He is tagged Ranged and Stationary, and the wiki lists no walk speed, chase speed or vision values for him, only a 12 unit Strike Range and a 1.5 second Strike delay. Walk too close and he reaches down to grab you. Clicking from side to side quickly enough lets you break free, otherwise he damages you, and once he has grabbed someone, or has been left alone long enough, he travels to a different area.
Since nothing about him is a chase, speed is irrelevant and awareness is everything. Look up when you enter a room, keep outside the 12 unit radius under him, and if the strike delay of 1.5 seconds is running, step back, because the delay gives you a chance to leave before the hand arrives. If you are caught, start clicking from side to side immediately. Squirm's own Toon has 5 stars of Extraction Speed, which fits a Twisted whose threat is pure positioning: the Toon wins by finishing Machines in safe corners, and its ability eats books for 100% extraction speed over 10 seconds.
Squirm is a Rare Twisted. At 100% Research you receive the Stress Ball trinket, which adds 5% Extraction Speed after each Skill Check you complete, lasting 15 seconds and stacking.
