Because its seed was tied to a limited event currency rather than the standard Sheckle Seed Shop, you couldn't simply buy it on a whim, which already separates it from grindable staples. If you missed the event window, the only route is the trading market, where event-locked crops tend to hold value well above their original effort cost.

For active farming, treat the Buttercup as a collector and mutation canvas rather than a sheckle treadmill. Limited crops with no recurring shop supply reward you for stacking high-tier mutations onto a single specimen before selling, since each fruit you grow is effectively irreplaceable. Rainbow and Gold combined with weather mutations like Wet, Chilled or Shocked multiply the base value far more meaningfully here than on a cheap renewable seed.

In progression terms, this is a mid-to-late game hold. Early players should prioritize reliable shop crops for steady income; the Buttercup only pays off once you can afford to sit on it, mutate it, and time the sale to a strong market.
