Named after New Zealand's iconic coastal tree (Metrosideros excelsa), celebrated for its vibrant crimson flowers that bloom around Christmas, the Pohutukawa brings a botanically grounded personality to the event's crop lineup and carries deep cultural significance in Māori tradition, where it is regarded as a sacred tree.

In terms of raw economic value, the Pohutukawa is one of the highest-earning Prismatic crops ever released, selling for an impressive 267,000 coins per harvest. This positions it among the top-tier coin-generating crops in the entire game. However, this earning power comes with a significant trade-off: the Pohutukawa has one of the longest growth cycles in the event lineup, at 13 hours, 36 minutes, and 40 seconds — just over half a day.
