How to Get the Shadow Sword in Sailor Piece

The Shadow sword in Sailor Piece: Shadowborn race, money and gems, the four Cid Dungeon materials (385 Dungeon Tokens at the Merchant), the F move quest and how it differs from Shadow Monarch.

⏱ 9 min read✅ Updated for 2026🎯 Wiki data

The Shadow sword in Sailor Piece is a Mythical sword you buy from the Shadow Seller on Dungeon Island, and the shopping list is longer than most players expect: the Shadowborn race, 10,000,000 money, 15,000 gems and four different dungeon materials. This guide shows how to get the Shadow sword step by step, where every material comes from, how to unlock its F move, and how it differs from the Shadow Monarch sword that people often confuse it with.

A quick honesty note. We did not play-test any of this. The facts come from the Sailor Piece Fandom wiki pages for the Shadow sword (last edited May 22, 2026), the Shadow Seller, the Shadow Master, the Dungeon pages, the Races page and the Items page. Where the wiki says "TBA" or its pages disagree, we point it out.

You can read the entity page at Shadow sword. The Shadow boss, whose sword this is, has its own boss page.

The full requirement list

The Shadow Seller asks for all of this at once:

RequirementAmountWhere it comes from
Shadowborn raceEquippedRace Reroll
Money10,000,000The wiki does not say
Gems15,000The wiki does not say
Atomic Core1Cid Dungeon boss ("TBA%" drop); also 65 Dungeon Tokens at the Dungeon Merchant
Shadow Essence4Cid Dungeon boss, 2% to 4.5%; 25 Dungeon Tokens each
Void Seed8Cid Dungeon boss, 4.5% to 15%; 15 Dungeon Tokens each
Umbral Capsule20Cid Dungeon boss, 12.5% to 35%; 5 Dungeon Tokens each

Atomic Core does a second job. The Items page says it is also needed for Ascension V, and the Ascension page asks for 2 Atomic Cores in total, so the one you buy for the sword is not the last one you will want.

Step 1: get the Shadowborn race

This is the step with no deterministic route. Shadowborn is a Legendary race, and the Races page lists it as the required race for the Shadow sword. Its buffs are +55% Max HP, +20% Shadow sword damage and +50% damage.

You get races with the Race Reroll, an Epic item. The Race Reroll page says it drops from enemies and bosses (with a higher chance from bosses), comes from chests and codes, and the Races page adds that the Merchant sells it. The wiki's suggested farm is the bosses at Shibuya Station: Cursed Vessel, Curse King and Limitless Sorcerer. It also notes that rerolls are fully random and that higher rarity races have much lower chances, but it does not publish a number for Shadowborn.

Shadowborn race
Shadowborn race

Our advice is to start rolling for Shadowborn early and run the dungeons alongside it, because a Legendary race can take many rerolls and you do not want that wait to come after the materials are done. The wiki does not say whether you can switch race away after buying the sword, so keep Shadowborn equipped until the purchase is done.

Step 2: unlock Dungeon Island

The Shadow Seller lives on Dungeon Island, so you need the dungeon quest first: level 5,000, six Ancient Pieces and 25 boss kills. We walk through all of it in our dungeon unlock guide. Come back here once the Dungeon Master has spawned the portal.

Step 3: farm the Cid Dungeon

The Cid Dungeon (also called the Shadow Dungeon) is the source of the sword's materials. The Dungeon page lists its facts:

Cid Dungeon
DifficultyEasy, Medium, Hard, Extreme
Waves15
BossThe Cid boss spawns on waves 5, 10 and 15
DropsAtomic Cores, Shadow Essence, Void Seeds, Umbral Capsules
EntryDungeon Key to start and to replay (the wiki gives no quantity)

The Items page gives the ranges in the table above, and each is a range because the wiki lists a minimum and a maximum without saying what moves it. The harder-is-better rule is stated only for runes. We would guess difficulty moves the range here as well, but that is a guess.

The token shortcut

The Dungeon Merchant sells the same four items for Dungeon Tokens, which every finished dungeon pays. The full set of materials costs:

ItemNeededToken priceSubtotal
Atomic Core16565
Shadow Essence425100
Void Seed815120
Umbral Capsule205100
Total385

So the cheapest honest reading of the wiki is this: 385 Dungeon Tokens replaces all the luck. The wiki does not state how many tokens a run pays, so we cannot say how many runs that is. Every material the boss drops lowers that total, so keep the drops and buy only what is still missing.

Step 4: buy the sword

Take the materials, 10,000,000 money and 15,000 gems to the Shadow Seller, with Shadowborn equipped. There is also the 999 Robux Shop route, which the wiki lists as the other way to get the sword and which skips every farming step on this page.

Step 5: unlock the F move

The F move is locked at first. The wiki says it is unlocked through the Shadow Master NPC by completing a six-part quest line:

  1. 1Deal 1 billion damage.
  2. 2Defeat 1,250 NPCs.
  3. 3Kill 150 bosses.
  4. 4Beat the Easy Shadow Dungeon 10 times.
  5. 5Beat the Medium Shadow Dungeon 10 times.
  6. 6Beat the Hard Shadow Dungeon 10 times.

The wiki's Islands page lists the Shadow Master among the NPCs on Starter Island, though the Shadow Master page itself gives no location. The page does not say what the F move does, since the sword's move table still reads "TBA" for every description. It does say this is the quest line for the F move, so the last three steps mean 30 dungeon clears, which is the real time cost.

Do you need the Eminence in Shadow title?

No. The Dungeon page lists the Eminence in Shadow title among the Cid Dungeon's uses, and the Titles page gives it a 1% chance from the Shadow boss with a pity of 125 and a +40% damage bonus. But the Shadow sword's requirement list does not include it. Take the title as a bonus you collect while farming the dungeon, not as a gate.

Shadow versus Shadow Monarch versus Solo Hunter

Three swords share the shadow theme and the Dungeon Island area, and the wiki's pages for them sit close together. This is how they compare:

ShadowShadow MonarchSolo Hunter

Race neededShadowbornNone listedNone listed
Title neededNone"King of Shadows"None
Other sword neededNoneSolo HunterNone
DungeonCidDoubleNone
PlaystyleBalancedSustained damageNot described

Shadow Monarch is the harder one: it needs the Solo Hunter sword in your bag plus the King of Shadows title, 1 Shadow Crystal, 2 Kamish Daggers, 5 Monarch Essence and 10 Monarch Cores from the Double Dungeon. Its F move needs the Monarch clan, 10 Hard or Extreme Double Dungeon clears and 25 Shadow Soldiers defeated in there.

A warning about drop numbers for that sword. The Shadow Monarch Seller page lists a 6.75% to 12% chance for the King of Shadows title, while the Titles page says 0.8% with a pity of 140, and the Items page puts 6.75% to 12% on the Monarch Core instead. The Seller page also gives the Monarch Core 0.8% to 1.15%, and puts Shadow Crystal at 2.75% to 6.5% where the Items page says 0.5% to 1%. The pages cannot all be right. Our suggestion is to plan around the pity figure on the Titles page and treat the rest as unconfirmed.

Common mistakes

  • Starting the dungeon grind with no Shadowborn race, then waiting on rerolls with a full bag.
  • Spending Dungeon Tokens on chests before the Atomic Core, which is the most expensive piece at 65.
  • Confusing the Shadow sword with Shadow Monarch. The Shadow Seller does not sell Shadow Monarch.
  • Treating the Eminence in Shadow title as a requirement.
  • Forgetting that the F move line needs 30 dungeon clears on top of everything else.

Quick checklist

  • Shadowborn race equipped
  • Dungeon quest done and Dungeon Island open
  • 1 Atomic Core, 4 Shadow Essence, 8 Void Seeds, 20 Umbral Capsules
  • 10,000,000 money and 15,000 gems
  • Dungeon Keys for the Cid runs
