Description
Among the first swords a new pirate picks up in Blox Fruits, the Cutlass is available for 1,000 Beli from the Sword Dealer in the Pirate Starter area. Its common rarity makes it an entry-level blade, but it serves its purpose well for players just beginning to build their Sword stat and mastery through early combat. The Cutlass comes equipped with two moves: Quiet Rush, a quick forward dash that closes distance on enemies, and Air Slash, a ranged projectile that lets you poke targets from a safe distance. Both moves level up in effectiveness as you land hits and accumulate mastery with the weapon. Once you outgrow the starter islands, you will naturally replace the Cutlass with higher-rarity swords that scale better into the mid and late game. That said, it is a solid first step for any sword-focused build.
Moves & Abilities
3 movesThe player does 3 slashes, then performs a stab on the fourth, similar to Saber’s M1s.
The user dashes forward, swiftly attacking enemies in their path in a teleportation-like fashion.
The user slashes through the air, unleashing a short-range air slash that strikes all enemies in its path, forcefully knocking them back.

Cutlass — In-Depth Analysis
What Is the Cutlass?
The Cutlass is a Common sword — the lowest rarity tier in Blox Fruits — bought from the Sword Dealer at the Pirate Starter area for just 1,000 Beli. It's the quintessential beginner sword: cheap, immediately available, and designed to get new players through the early game before they can afford something better. If you just spawned on the Pirate side, this is likely your first weapon.
Strengths, Weaknesses, and Who It's For
The Cutlass's strengths are almost entirely about accessibility. It costs almost nothing, has a low mastery requirement, and both moves have AoE, which is genuinely helpful for a beginner hitting groups of weaker NPCs. It's also decent for training Aura because its low damage avoids one-shotting targets. Quick startup makes it usable immediately.
Beyond the beginner phase, the Cutlass falls off sharply. The damage is poor, both moves fail to break Instinct, the cooldowns feel long relative to how little damage is dealt, and upgrading it actually requires Angel Wings from Upper Skylands (level 450+ enemies) — a completely unreasonable upgrade path for a Common sword.
Tip: Use the Cutlass only long enough to farm early mastery and Beli, then switch to a higher-tier sword as soon as you can — there's no meaningful upgrade path worth pursuing here.
