Description
Forged in the sugary chaos of the Sea of Treats, the Spikey Trident is a legendary sword dropped by two of that sea's most formidable bosses — Cake Prince and Dough King. Because both are high-difficulty encounters tied to the Third Sea, farming this weapon demands a well-built character and patience, but the legendary rarity makes the grind worthwhile. As a sword, the Spikey Trident scales with your Sword stat, so investing mastery points there maximises its output. Its two moves, Dough Hurricane and Flying Trident Pull, lean into the doughy theme of its origin zone and give it a distinctive combat identity compared to generic swords available at the same progression tier. Players grinding Sea of Treats content will find the Spikey Trident a natural chase item, since the same bosses that drop it are already on the farming rotation for other rewards. Landing it early is rare, so plan for multiple runs before it appears in the drop pool.
Moves & Abilities
3 movesThe player does 3 swipes, then performs a lunge on the fourth.
The user dashes forward. If the user collides with an enemy during the dash, they will start burrowing/drilling dough into the enemy's back while continuing the dash, dealing damage and stunning the enemy. The enemy will receive a fair amount of knockback afterwards.
Attaching a stream of liquid dough attached to the trident, the user expels it in the direction of their cursor. Upon connection between the dough and any surface, the user will "pull" themselves towards that specific surface. If the dough connects with another player/enemies
Pros
10- ✦Good for combo extending and stunning enemies.
- ✦Great damage.
- ✦Amazing mobility.
- ✦Both moves stun the enemy in place.
- ✦Can still drill the enemy even if the enemy uses another skill, similar to the mechanics of Dough.
- ✦Long stun.
- ✦Great mobility.
- ✦Great range.
- ✦Great combo extender, as it can pull the enemy back into a combo.
- ✦Can pull the user to a certain location, making it relatively decent for mobility.
Cons
12- ✦Can be hard to PvP with due to the moves needing perfect aim to land on the enemy. The player will usually need a stun move to start a combo with this sword.
- ✦Cannot hit Blade users.
- ✦Does not Instinct Break, making it really easy to dodge.
- ✦Both moves are single targets.
- ✦Small hitbox makes it hard to aim with.
- ✦Slow M1 speed.
- ✦Enemies can ken-trick and Flash Step instantly near the user after the knockback, leaving them vulnerable. (This can happen when PvP on ground with good instinct players)
- ✦Cannot be canceled upon hitting an enemy.
- ✦The user can drown while dragging an enemy into the water or lava.
- ✦High delay if missed.
- ✦Require good aim.
- ✦Missing can cause the user to rush close to the enemy if they are in the wall or on the ground, leaving them vulnerable to counterattacks because of the slight delay after getting pulled.
Trivia
5- 1As of Update 20, while using transformed Buddha, moves the user a very short distance. is harder to hit with transformed Buddha since it will aim parallel to the ground if aimed downward while standing on the ground.
- 2The player can perform a glitch by coordinating with another player to use and aim it downward, which results in both users being knocked back a great distance if done correctly.
- 3Interestingly, each sea features a sword named "Trident": the Trident in First Sea, the Dragon Trident in Second Sea, and the Spikey Trident in Third Sea.
- 4The Spikey Trident's moves were revamped.
- 5The Spikey Trident was released.
Spikey Trident — In-Depth Analysis
What Is Spikey Trident?
Spikey Trident is a Legendary sword introduced in Update 17, dropped in the Third Sea by Cake Prince or Dough King in the Sea of Treats. Its boss-drop origin means RNG is a factor, but the two bosses are farmable and the drop rate makes this a realistic grind target for dedicated Sea 3 players.
Mobility and Combo Extension
What sets Spikey Trident apart from other Third Sea swords is its exceptional mobility paired with strong stun control. Both moves lock enemies in place and pull targets back into range — a mechanic that mirrors Dough fruit's drag properties and keeps opponents inside your combo rather than getting knocked to a safe distance. The pull can even reposition the user toward a specific location, effectively doubling as a movement tool.
The limitations are real: neither move breaks Instinct, making experienced PvP players difficult to open against without a separate stun opener. The hitbox is small and the weapon is heavily aim-dependent, punishing poor aim severely. M1 speed is slow, and the lack of Instinct break means you cannot rely on Spikey Trident alone to carry a fight.
- Best role: Third Sea PvP combo extension and repositioning - Signature mechanic: enemy pull restores combo proximity after knockback, preventing recovery windows - Concrete tip: Always use Spikey Trident as the second or third skill in a chain — never the opener. Lead with a high-stun fruit or fighting style, then activate the trident pull to drag the stunned target back into your next skill's range before they can Flash Step away.
