Ancient Wood guide

Ancient Wood is a Legendary find from Sunstone Island that is hardly a fish at all: it weighs 0.1 kg to 0.6 kg, averaging 0.2 kg, which ranks 641st of the 663 fish with a recorded max weight. The in-game description credits it with the essence of "Ancient Wisdom", and that is all the fluff you get.

What matters is the price tag. Each kg is worth C$2,000, but at 0.2 kg the average sale is only C$200, 486th of 742 documented fish. A Legendary label does not guarantee a Legendary payout, and this catch is a good example of it.

It does give 45 base XP, more than you would expect from something this light. Sunfish is the other Legendary fish listed on Sunstone Island and is the more natural thing to target there.

Verdict: do not plan a session around Ancient Wood. If it lands on your hook, take the XP and sell it, or keep it as a curiosity. For serious earnings on Sunstone Island, other catches in the zone deserve your attention first.
