Watermelon — In-Depth Analysis
Watermelon is one of the great mid-game economic anchors in Grow a Garden, and the reason comes down to its physical size. Sell value in this game scales heavily with fruit weight, and watermelons are among the heaviest crops you can grow, so a single oversized fruit can outsell a whole tray of small berries. That makes it a weight-farming target rather than a volume crop.
Because the seed shows up reliably in shop rotations and isn't gated behind an event, you don't need to plan your economy around it the way you would a limited drop. The smart play is patience: let each plant size up fully before harvesting, since clipping a watermelon early throws away most of its value.
For mutations, Watermelon shines with multiplicative weather and rarity stacks like Wet, Chilled, Shocked or the high-tier Rainbow and Gold variants. Those multipliers apply on top of an already large base weight, so the absolute Sheckle gain dwarfs what the same mutation gives a tiny crop. Grow it once you can protect plants long enough to let admin weather roll through, and a mutated jumbo watermelon becomes one of your best per-plant payouts.
