Lightning Rod

The Lightning Rod is a crafted gear, not a shop pickup, so its real price is a tax on your sprinkler inventory: you must surrender one Basic, one Advanced, and one Godly Sprinkler plus 500,000 Sheckles at the Crafting NPC near the Cosmetics Shop. That cost structure tells you exactly when to build it: only once your farm churns out high-tier sprinklers faster than you can use them, because sacrificing a Godly Sprinkler early in progression is genuinely painful.

What you get is a niche utility tool rather than a growth booster. The Rod biases lightning-related mutations onto crops in its zone, which matters specifically when you are hunting weather-tagged mutation stacks for high-multiplier harvests. It does nothing for raw size or growth speed.

For an active farm, the verdict is conditional. If you are not actively farming mutation value, skip it and keep the Godly Sprinkler working in your plots. It earns its keep only in the mid-to-late game when you are deliberately stacking mutations on premium crops and the 500,000 Sheckles plus consumed sprinklers are pocket change. Treat it as a specialist, not a staple.
