MM2 Powers (Perks): Every Power, Price and Cooldown

Resumo rápido

Every MM2 power, formerly called perks: prices in Coins and Diamonds, durations, cooldowns, and where the wiki disagrees with itself.

MM2 powers: what they are and which ones exist

MM2 powers (called perks before Season 1) are ten abilities for the murderer. Footsteps is free. Sleight and Ninja cost 1,000 Coins or 100 Diamonds, Sprint, Fake Gun, Haste, Trap and Decoy cost 3,000 Coins or 400 Diamonds, and Ghost and X-Ray cost 6,000 Coins or 800 Diamonds. You equip one at a time.

If you came here searching for "mm2 perks", you are in the right place: it is the same system under its old name. According to the wiki's Powers page, powers "give the murderer a special ability" and are all bought in the Shop for a fixed price in Coins or Diamonds. The page's trivia says they were originally called Perks before the Season 1 atualização (maio 25th, 2019) and that the reason for the rename is still unknown. The wiki's own Season 1 page does not mention the rename in its change list, so the date comes from the Powers page alone. The wiki is not consistent about the word either: the Ninja, Haste and Fake Gun pages still say "perk", and the trivia notes that a player's profile still reads "[Player Name]'s Perks" when you check powers.

This guia covers every power with its price, duration, cooldown and effect. It also covers where the wiki disagrees with itself, how powers fit into a round, and which ones the wiki's map pages recommend. Everything below comes from the wiki pages listed under Sources. If you want the knives and guns that go with these powers, start from the Murder Mystery 2 weapons page. The full power list also lives on our MM2 powers page.

All MM2 powers at a glance

The table below follows the wiki's Powers overview and the individual power pages. Where the two disagree, the column shows the overview and a note below explains the difference.

The pattern in the price column is simple. Two cheap utility powers, five mid-priced ones and two at the top. The X-Ray page adds that it used to be the single most expensive perk and now shares that spot with Ghost.

Every power in detail

Footsteps

Footsteps is the default. Everyone owns it automatically on first joining. When you are the murderer it draws a fading trail of footprints behind every innocent and the Sheriff, and since the março 2020 atualização it also shows the direction each player was heading. The wiki says the colours are randomised per player from the start and lists blue, yellow, red, pink and green. Its own gameplay text calls it "a weak, weak ESP".

Two things to know. First, the Footsteps page says that in Murder Mystery 1 everybody could see each other's footsteps, not only the murderer. Second, the wiki records two buffs: the março 2020 atualização (the page says it was buffed to 40 seconds and given direction display) and the Christmas Event 2025, with no figures for the second one.

Sleight

Sleight is the cheapest tier, tied with Ninja at 1,000 Coins or 100 Diamonds. The page says it lets you throw knives quicker than usual. The overview table adds that you also regenerate the knife faster. The Sleight page calls it a ranged power that makes thrown knives faster and says it counters looping easily if you are somewhat close to the person looping you.

Ninja

Ninja makes your knife silent, so a kill produces no sound. The Ninja page adds that collecting a coin is silent too while the knife is equipped. The wiki's reasoning: it is harder to pinpoint the murderer if, say, everybody is having a dance party outside, and "if nobody's paying attention to you, you basically win". It is the only cheap power built around staying unnoticed rather than moving faster.

Sprint

Sprint is an active boost. The Powers overview says you run 50% faster for 5 seconds, with a 27-second cooldown, and the Sprint page says a white or yellow strip of trail follows the murderer while it is active. Sprint and Trap were both added in the maio 2020 atualização, and the maio 2020 page describes Sprint as similar to Haste but with a much bigger boost for a much shorter time and a cooldown. The Sprint page compares it to the vintage knife Blood, which gave 50% for 3 seconds. The Christmas Event 2025 buffed it, with no numbers given.

Fake Gun

Fake Gun gives you a gun tool for the whole round so that innocents take you for the Sheriff. Since the Christmas Event 2025 it is passive. Before that it ran for 10 seconds with a 20-second cooldown, and before the março 2020 atualização it changed your knife's look into your equipped gun rather than giving a separate tool. The Fake Gun page is blunt about its reputation: the least used and "most useless" perk in the game, though it can work because nobody expects anyone to run it. The wiki's advice is to avoid using it when the real Sheriff is in the room, since that is a giveaway, and to act like a Sheriff rather than chase people with the gun.

Haste

Haste is passive. While the knife is held out you run 10% faster, which the overview says lets you outrun innocents. The page calls it one of the best perks in the game. Its history is a string of changes: at release it gave 30% more speed, it was lowered with the Halloween Event 2019, improved by an unknown amount in the março 2020 atualização, and the page says it was set to 10% in early maio 2020, when Sprint and Trap arrived.

Trap

Trap lets you place up to 4 hidden traps with 0.5 seconds between placements. An innocent who steps on one freezes for 4 seconds. Only the murderer sees the traps, and the wiki notes a trapped Sheriff or Hero can still shoot. The Trap page describes it as a way to shut off parts of the map and box someone in before finishing them. It adds that the power was probably inspired by Piggy and that the YouTuber duo JD has an admin version allowing 500 traps. The Christmas Event 2025 buffed Trap too.

Decoy

Decoy is the newest power. The Decoy page puts it in the Thanksgiving Event 2025 category, and the wiki's evento trivia calls it the first new power since the maio 2020 atualização. You can place up to 3 clones of your character, and a clone that gets shot vanishes, so it can absorb a bullet. The page warns that players cannot collide with the clones, which makes them easy to spot. The Christmas Event 2025 buffed it.

Ghost

Ghost turns you invisible for 5 seconds. Swinging the knife ends the invisibility early. The page compares it to the Shadow ability in Murder Mystery 1, and adds that with the dual wield effect innocents and the Sheriff can still see your knife while you are invisible. Season 1 nerfed it from 10 seconds to 5. There was also a bug where the power would kill you, fixed on an unknown date, and a glitch that left you invisible after the round ended, fixed in the Summer Event 2024. The Ghost page notes the power "is known for breaking when Roblox updates their código".

X-Ray

X-Ray lets you see through walls for 4 seconds, showing dead bodies, remaining innocents, the Sheriff and the gun. The page gives the cooldown as 26 seconds, formerly 30. It also admits the in-shop description still says "30s cooldown".

Where the wiki contradicts itself

The wiki is edited by many people over many years, and the power pages show it. These are the conflicts worth knowing about, with both versions.

  • Ghost cooldown. The Powers overview table says 20 seconds. The Ghost page says 30 seconds and explains that the Summer Event 2024 atualização changed it from 20 to 30. The Ghost page dates the change to the Summer Event 2024 atualização, so 20 seconds is the older figure, and the overview table still shows it.
  • Trap numbers. The maio 2020 atualização page says Trap allows up to 3 traps each round and freezes for 3 seconds. The Trap page and the Powers overview both say 4 traps and a 4-second freeze. The wiki does not say whether the numbers changed after the maio 2020 release.
  • X-Ray cooldown. The shop description says 30 seconds. The X-Ray page and the overview say 26. The page itself flags the mismatch.
  • Power or perk. Some pages say power, others perk, and the Powers page says the rename was with Season 1 while the Season 1 page does not list it.

There is also an old bug on the Powers page: at some point it was possible to have two perks in the same round, for example Ninja and X-Ray. The wiki lists it as a bug, not as a feature.

How powers work in a round

The wiki describes powers as abilities that give the murderer a special ability, and every power page is written from the murderer's side. It documents no power for the other roles. You buy a power in the Shop and equip it. For the rest of the cast, powers show up only as things to watch out for: footprints, a sudden speed boost, a flickering invisible player, a frozen victim.

A few interactions come straight from the wiki:

  • Ghost and the knife. Swinging the knife cancels Ghost, so the power is for approaching, not for fighting.
  • Fake Gun and the real Sheriff. The Fake Gun page advises against it when a Sheriff is in the room, because two guns in one room is a giveaway.
  • Decoy and shooting. A clone that is shot vanishes, so it trades a clone for a bullet.
  • Trap and the Sheriff. A trapped Sheriff or Hero can still shoot.
  • Sleight and looping. A close-range loop gets countered by faster knife throws, per the Sleight page.
  • Ninja and coins. Coin pickups are silent while the knife is equipped.

For how roles themselves work, see the Murder Mystery 2 hub.

Which role each power helps

The wiki describes all ten powers from the murderer's side, so the useful question is what each one does against the other roles.

  • Against innocents: Footsteps (tracking), Ninja (silence), Haste and Sprint (catching), Trap (stopping), Ghost and X-Ray (finding and approaching), Fake Gun (deception).
  • Against the Sheriff and Hero: Decoy (absorbs a shot), Sleight (ranged knives and anti-loop), Ghost (the Office 3 page recommends it against a Sheriff camping in cramped hallways), Trap (guards a dropped gun, per the Hospital 3 advice).

The wiki does not publish a table of what each power beats, so the lists above are a reading of the individual pages.

What the wiki's map pages recommend

Several map pages carry a list of murderer tips that names powers. The mentions below were counted from the map pages of the 12 maps the wiki's Maps page lists as playable. Research Facility's tips say almost every power can help and name none, so the count covers 11 maps. This is a count of editor recommendations, not a performance statistic, and it only reflects what individual wiki editors chose to write.

PowerMaps whose tips name it
Haste8: Hospital 3, Bank 2, Factory, Mansion 2, House 2, Mil-Base, Bio Lab, Workplace
Sprint5: Hospital 3, Factory, Mansion 2, House 2, Office 3
Ninja5: Hospital 3, Hotel 2, Bank 2, Office 3, Workplace
Sleight5: Factory, Mansion 2, House 2, Mil-Base, Bio Lab
Trap4: Hospital 3, Factory, House 2, Office 3
X-Ray3: Hotel 2, Police Station, Mil-Base
Ghost3: Mansion 2, Office 3, Workplace
Fake Gun2: Bank 2, Office 3
Decoy1: Factory
Footstepsnot named as a recommendation

The Haste page calls it "one of the best" perks and the Fake Gun page calls it the least used. The tips also give reasons. Police Station says X-Ray is one of the most useful powers there because the map is big and spread out, and Mil-Base says it helps track down hiding players. Factory pairs Sleight and Haste with how open the map is. Hospital 3's tips say Haste, Sprint and Ninja suit its small size, and the Bank 2 page pairs Ninja and Haste with quick stabs and suggests Fake Gun at the start of the round.

Factory's tips call Decoy and Trap "great defensive powers" if you struggle to get the person holding the gun. All of this is editor advice from the wiki and not a verdict from play. For price context, Haste sits in the middle tier at 3,000 Coins, while the two most expensive powers appear on three maps each.

Frequently asked questions

What are MM2 perks?

MM2 perks are what the game's powers were called before the Season 1 atualização (maio 25th, 2019). They are abilities for the murderer, bought in the Shop with Coins or Diamonds. The wiki says the reason for the rename is unknown, and some pages and the profile screen still use the word "perks".

What is the best MM2 power?

The wiki calls Haste "one of the best perks in the game", and it is also named in the murderer tips of 8 of the 12 regular maps. The wiki does not publish an official ranking, so "best" depends on the map and your playstyle.

How much do MM2 powers cost?

Footsteps is free. Sleight and Ninja cost 1,000 Coins or 100 Diamonds. Sprint, Fake Gun, Haste, Trap and Decoy cost 3,000 Coins or 400 Diamonds. Ghost and X-Ray cost 6,000 Coins or 800 Diamonds each, which makes them the most expensive.

Can innocents or the Sheriff use powers?

The wiki documents powers only for the murderer: it describes them as a feature that gives the murderer a special ability, and every power page is written from the murderer's view. It lists no power for innocents or the Sheriff, who only see the effects.

What is the Ghost cooldown in MM2?

The wiki disagrees. The Powers overview table says 20 seconds, while the Ghost page says 30 seconds and notes the change from 20 to 30 came with the Summer Event 2024 atualização. Ghost lasts 5 seconds, and swinging the knife ends it early.

How many traps can you place with the Trap power?

The Trap page and the Powers overview say 4 traps, with 0.5 seconds between placements and a 4-second freeze. The maio 2020 atualização page, which describes the release, says 3 traps and a 3-second freeze. The wiki does not say whether the numbers changed later.
