Mossy Coins are the core currency of 99 Nights in the Forest, and unlike food or weapons they are not consumed in combat. You collect them by simply clicking on them when they appear, and they accumulate so you can spend them on shop purchases and upgrades that keep your camp alive across the full 99 nights.
The strength of Mossy Coins is how many ways they spawn. They are scattered across the entire map and turn up while exploring most structures, hidden on or inside fallen tree trunks. On top of passive looting, you earn them by defeating Cultists and raiding Banks, which makes aggressive play directly pay off. Because they appear on so many locations, every exploration trip doubles as an income run if you stay alert and click everything that glints.
Are they worth grabbing? Always, without hesitation. There is no downside to a currency, and the more you bank early, the more flexibility you have to buy the gear and reinforcements that decide late-game survival.
