Cursed Skeleton Boss
Description
Among the most coveted blades in Blox Fruits, the Cursed Dual Katana — nicknamed CDK by the community — earns its mythical rarity through sheer combo potential rather than raw damage alone. To get it, you need to hunt down the Cursed Skeleton Boss on Floating Turtle and hope it drops; the boss does not always oblige, so persistence is part of the grind. Once you have it, the two moves define how you play the weapon. Revolving Ravager is the go-to combo opener, and its stun window is long enough to chain directly into a fighting-style skill before opponents can react. Slayer of Goliath provides the heavier follow-up hit that closes out most burst sequences. Because it scales with the Sword stat, every point you invest there tightens those combo timings. PvP players rank CDK as one of the best combo-extender swords in the game precisely because it pairs so well with Godhuman and Death Step — the Z or X move cancels smoothly into those styles for sequences that are very hard to escape.
Moves & Abilities
3 movesThe player does 2 slashes, then they spin and do as they do a slash, then ending on the fourth with a cross slash.
The user spins around, zooming their view out and forming a red and black tornado that stuns and damages targets that are near it. Afterwards, the user will unleash the tornado, which pulls enemies away and captures and drags any enemies in its path, and then explodes, which will fling enemies towards the user. While this move is held, the tornado will stay in place for some time, dealing extra damage.
The user executes a backflip before crossing their swords in an X pattern, dashing towards the enemy(s) at high speed, and slicing them, dealing high damage. This move can be held to go further and deal more damage. Additionally, when hit, a second explosion will occur, dealing slightly less damage and knocking the target back. Finally, the target will see a large quickly spinning X obstructing their screen when hit. This move can bypass the protection granted by Dragon and only a % of Buddha transformations.
Pros
15- ✦High combo potential.
- ✦Very high damage.
- ✦All moves are multi-target.
- ✦All moves can damage enemies in Sea Events.
- ✦Very good for PvP if used correctly.
- ✦Great for grinding because of its high damage, fast [M1] attack speed, AoE, and no forward dash on [M1] attacks.
- ✦Long stun if held.
- ✦Big vertical hitbox.
- ✦Great combo starter.
- ✦Extends the enemy's hitbox, making the player capable of extending combos with short range moves.
- ✦Great mobility.
- ✦Very long range if held.
- ✦Great combo potential.
- ✦Disregard some of Buddha's defense and ignore's Dragon's defense buffs.
- ✦The tap version can be used to punish players for missing their moves if the user have good aim since the tap version breaks instinct if landed directly and has very little startup and endlag.
Cons
12- ✦Cannot hit Blade users.
- ✦Hard to obtain, as the player needs both Tushita and Yama, both swords with 350 mastery to start the Cursed Dual Katana puzzle, which is quite time-consuming on its own. Tushita requires rip_indra True Form spawned to start the puzzle for it.
- ✦High mastery requirements.
- ✦All moves are Instinct Trickable.
- ✦A highly used sword, thus, very well known on how to counter.
- ✦Not good for grinding, as the tornado does not drag multiple enemies when released. However, the explosion can hit multiple enemies.
- ✦Instinct trickable.
- ✦Small hitbox.
- ✦Hard to hit moving opponents.
- ✦The second explosion does not occur against multiple enemies. It can only occur to one enemy.
- ✦Second highest mastery requirement for a skill in the game (375), behind death step (400).
- ✦Players often trick Cursed Dual Katana users, as they wait the user to hold the entire X, and when the cdk user travels to the target, they can get surprised by the opponent sudden moves (Like Ice's V).
Trivia
10- 1Cursed Dual Katana is often abbreviated as "CDK" by players.
- 2The Cursed Dual Katana deals the fourth-highest damage per click out of every sword in the game (the third is True Triple Katana, the second is Bisento V2, and the first is Triple Dark Blade).
- 3is as fast as Dark Blade's move, but Dark Blade’s move has more range.
- 4requires 375 Mastery, the second-highest move mastery requirement in the game. Only Death Step's is higher, at 400 Mastery.
- 5Despite this, once a player reaches Cake Land, enemies yield relatively more mastery, making it easier to grind past this point.
- 6If timed perfectly, player/enemy can dash or flash step out of both moves
- 7Using Godhuman's move while the opponent is trapped inside the tornado from Cursed Dual Katana's move will cause the move's animation to follow the opponent who is trapped inside the tornado.
- 8The Cursed Dual Katana was considered one of the best swords in the game by the community due to its versatility and attack power, but many more recent weapons outshine it in most fields.
- 9The Cursed Dual Katana, along with Shark Anchor, is the only swords in the game that ignore Dragon's defense buff.
- 10There was a glitch that allowed the player to use and immediately unequip the sword from their hotbar will freeze the target in place, rendering them unable to move until they die or switch teams. This has been patched on the Dragon Update.
Cursed Dual Katana — In-Depth Analysis
What Is the Cursed Dual Katana?
The Cursed Dual Katana is a Mythical sword — the highest rarity tier — obtained as a drop from the Cursed Skeleton Boss in the Floating Turtle area of the Third Sea. It is one of the most complex weapons to acquire in the entire game, requiring both Tushita and Yama each at 350 mastery before even starting the puzzle chain. The payoff is a dual-wield katana with extraordinary multi-target damage, long stun, and the unique property of ignoring Buddha's and Dragon's defense buffs.
Strengths, Weaknesses, and Who It's For
- High combo potential with a big vertical hitbox and a tap version that breaks Instinct with minimal startup - Great mobility and very long range on the held version - Bypasses Buddha/Dragon defense buffs, making it one of the few reliable counters to those popular forms - Multi-target AoE and Sea Event damage on all moves
The weaknesses are as notable as the strengths: Blade users are immune, all moves are Instinct-trickable, the secondary explosion only triggers on one enemy despite the AoE, and the mastery requirement for X (375) is the second-highest in the game. It cannot hit Blade users and is widely known, so opponents are well-prepared to counter it.
Tip: Use the tap version of the X move as a punish tool against whiffed enemy skills — its near-zero startup and Instinct-breaking property make it the fastest counter option in the Cursed Dual Katana's kit.
