Magician Narwhal

Magician Narwhal is the Apex-rarity catch of The Ocean and Open Ocean, a narwhal in a neat top hat with an enchanted wand, according to the listing. Both zones count, which doubles the places you can hunt it. You need Golden Worm bait, Clear weather and Summer, and it carries the Hunt fish tag.

The headline is the payout. An average catch is worth C$635,000, rank 3 of the 742 documented fish, and it pays 2,500,000 base XP, an enormous amount. The weight is more ordinary: 12,700 kg on average (5,400 to 42,000 kg), with a maximum ranking 61 of 663, so the value comes from the C$50 per kg rate, not from size.

Beluga, Bloop Fish, Mosslurker and Narwhal share its rarity and zone, so you will see four other Apex catches competing for the same casts. No rod is listed for sale in either zone.

Verdict: if the conditions line up, this is the fish to build a session around, because few catches in the records come close to its numbers. Prepare Golden Worm, wait for a clear summer day and cast from either water. Selling is the obvious choice, and at that price a single catch is a major payday.
