Moonridge Catfish

In Blue Moon Sea 2, the Moonridge Catfish is a sleek, whiskered fish whose barbels glow like moonlight, an Unusual from the Second Sea. It needs Mist Worms as bait and Clear weather in Winter, and can bite at any time of day.

Weights run from 2 kg to 12.6 kg, with a 4 kg average, which makes it small. The maximum ranks 436th of 663 fish with a documented maximum. What lifts it is the price per kg, about C$158.33: an average catch comes to roughly C$633, 372nd of the 742 documented fish by average value. Its base XP is 2,350, which is large next to its sale price.

No other fish of the same rarity is documented in that zone, so the catfish is the Unusual you will see there. That also makes it a clean target: you will not have to sort through a crowd of similar catches to know what you have.

The practical verdict is that the XP is the reason to fish it. With 2,350 base XP for a fish this size, it is a good choice for leveling in the Second Sea. The sale price lands just above the middle of the table, but it is the XP that makes it worth preparing the Mist Worms and waiting for a clear winter.
