Strawberry — In-Depth Analysis
Strawberry is one of the classic early-game staples in Grow a Garden, and its economics reflect that role. It is a low-cost, multi-harvest crop, which is precisely why beginners are steered toward it: a cheap seed that keeps producing fruit across many cycles offers an excellent payback ratio when your Sheckle reserves are still thin. You buy it once and harvest repeatedly, so the effective cost per fruit drops to near zero after the first few collections.
The trade-off is that individual Strawberries carry a modest sell price. As a common-tier shop crop it will never compete with mythical or divine produce on raw value, so the way to make it pay is volume and mutation. Because it regrows, Strawberry is a reliable canvas for stacking mutations like Gold, Rainbow, Wet or Frozen over time; a mutated strawberry can sell for many multiples of the base, turning a starter plant into surprisingly steady income.
For progression, plant Strawberry early and keep a row of them running even into mid-game as a passive trickle. Once you can afford higher-tier multi-harvest crops, let Strawberry transition into a dedicated mutation-farming bed rather than your main earner.
