Storms in Grow a Garden can apply the high-value Shocked mutation to crops, but the effect lands randomly across your plot — the Lightning Rod's purpose is to attract that lightning to a controlled point so you decide which crops absorb the charge.

The profit case is straightforward: Shocked is a powerful multiplier, and stacking it on top of base mutations like Gold or Rainbow turns ordinary produce into premium sell stacks. Place the rod near your most valuable, fully grown crops before a Thunderstorm rolls in, since the window for catching strikes is short and a mistimed placement wastes the whole storm.
