Snowballs are tied to an Event Weather from the Christmas Harvest Event, where the Snowball itself is a limited gear rather than a crop-mutation trigger. It can be obtained two ways: from the Snowman Soldier and from the Snowball Fight weather, making this one of the more interactive seasonal events in Grow a Garden.

Because the Snowball is gear and not a seed, its value is utility and rarity rather than harvest output. During the Snowball Fight weather, players gather snowballs that function as throwable items, and the limited tag means anything you banked during the December window is no longer farmable through normal play. That scarcity is exactly what makes a stockpile worth holding rather than spending freely.

To capitalize, prioritize attendance during any active Snowball Fight: the weather is the only repeatable source, so logging in while it is live maximizes your count. Hold a reserve of Snowballs as a collector's asset and for trades, since limited Christmas gear tends to appreciate once the event closes. If the Snowman Soldier appears, interact promptly before it despawns to top up your seasonal stash.
