The Ice Skates are a Christmas-exclusive wearable from the Christmas Update, and despite sitting in the Wearable (Gear/Armor-like) category they are about mobility, not protection. The row lists no damage or armor stats because their real function is movement: they let you skate and travel across Frozen Lakes and Ice Skating Rinks, terrain that's otherwise slow or awkward to cross on foot.
Picking them up is event-gated. They come from Santa's Sack, and the price drops for anyone running the Santa's Helper class (15 with that class). A nice touch is that they auto-equip the moment you buy them, so there's no fumbling in the inventory before you can glide.
Are they worth it? Only situationally. If your run leans on the Snow Biome or frozen-lake routes, the skating speed is a genuine shortcut and a fun traversal edge. But because they're seasonal and purely terrain-specific, they offer nothing in a normal forest run and won't help you fight or eat. Grab them if you're playing the Christmas event and crossing ice often; otherwise your inventory space is better spent on food or weapons.
