The Poison Spear is one of the heaviest-hitting melee weapons you can carry, landing a massive 2,532.54 damage per strike. That number puts it well above most early and mid-game melee options, making it a serious answer to tougher enemies and the threats that swarm your camp after dark. As a spear, it gives you that bit of extra reach over short blades, so you can poke enemies before they close in.

Getting one is down to luck, since it only appears through chance drops. You might find it resting on the dock of the Frog Pond, pull it from a Frog Chest, or unwrap it from a gold Present. There's no crafting recipe, so you can't reliably manufacture one, you have to gamble on those sources and hope the spear rolls in your favor.

Is it worth grabbing? Absolutely, grab it the instant you see one. A weapon hitting over 2,500 damage dramatically shortens fights, saves you hunger and healing items, and helps you defend the deer or push through dangerous biomes. Until something stronger drops, the Poison Spear earns a permanent slot in your loadout.
