Flamethrower

The Flamethrower is a ranged weapon that is exclusive to the Pyromaniac Class, so you cannot loot or craft it the way you would a sword or bow; it comes bundled with the class itself. That tie makes it less about chasing a drop and more about whether you have invested in the Pyromaniac playstyle in the first place.

On paper its base damage of roughly 8.2 per hit looks modest next to heavy melee weapons, but that number undersells how a flamethrower actually works. Its strength is sustained, continuous output and area coverage rather than single big swings, letting you wash a stream of fire across grouped enemies instead of trading blows one at a time. Against the swarms that pile up on bad nights, that crowd control can matter more than raw per-hit figures.

Is it worth grabbing? For survival it is only relevant if you are running the Pyromaniac, in which case it defines your offense and pairs naturally with the class's fire synergies. If you are not on that class, there is nothing here to chase. Treat the Flamethrower as a build-defining signature weapon, not a general-purpose pickup, and lean on its range to keep dangerous mobs at arm's length.
