The Tactical Shotgun is a ranged weapon in 99 Nights in the Forest built for close-quarters burst damage. Like all shotguns it sprays multiple pellets per shot, so it shines against bulky targets and packs of enemies that close the distance, while wasting its power at long range. Treat it as a panic-button defensive tool for when wolves, bears or night swarms get right on top of you.
Sourcing it takes some luck. The Tactical Shotgun drops from Ruby Chests and also has a chance to appear as a craftable recipe at the Workshop, so you can either gamble on chests or hope the Workshop rolls it for you. Critically, it always spawns with 43 shotgun ammo — 3 rounds loaded and 40 in reserve, giving you a meaningful stockpile right out of the gate before you ever scavenge more shells.
Verdict: well worth grabbing if you can secure it, especially for defending the campfire on high-pressure nights. The generous starting ammo makes it usable immediately, and its stopping power covers a gap that melee and slower rifles leave open. Just ration those shells — shotgun ammo is not something you find lying around freely.
