Cultist Staff — In-Depth Analysis

The Cultist Staff is a class-defining item added in the 2x Gem Weekend + Classes MK III update, and it is the signature tool of the Necromancer class, who spawns with it already in their inventory. Although it is filed as a Weapon, its damage stat is blank, which tells you its value is not about hitting things, it is about raising an undead workforce.

Its real function is summoning. The staff can summon cultists outright, and you can also spend 3 souls on a dead cultist to summon one back, with souls harvested from cultists that have died. That loop, kill or find dead cultists, bank their souls, then reanimate them, turns the Necromancer into a commander who fights through minions rather than personal melee. The more bodies and souls you accumulate, the larger the force you can field.

Is it worth grabbing? For Necromancer players it is non-negotiable, it is the whole identity of the build and you start with it, so never discard it. For everyone else it is not really obtainable, since it is tied to the class spawn. If you enjoy a summoner playstyle that overwhelms the forest's threats with numbers, the Cultist Staff is the centerpiece to build your entire run around.
