The newest Halloween content in 99 Nights in the Forest revolves around one very unlucky pumpkin man and one very annoying weapon. According to the game's wiki, the "Helping Happy" update (listed in the Update Log as 2026.10.3, and described on the Webs page as Halloween Update Part 1) added webs all over the map, and the only thing that can cut them is Happy's Scythe. This guide explains how the scythe works, how its three levels compare, what you can find inside a web, and which badges depend on it. Everything below comes from the wiki's Update Log, Badges, Webs, The Ram and Happy the Halloween Guy pages.

What happened to Happy?
Happy the Halloween Guy is the carved-pumpkin NPC who first appeared in the 2025 Halloween event. This year the update text says he has been "Boned" by The Ram, and your job is to help put his body back together by finding his limbs around the map. According to the wiki, Happy now stands at campfire level 1 in your run, but only his head is there. The Ram "was feeling grumpy", and the rest of Happy is scattered.
When you talk to his head, the first thing he says is "Help! The Ram messed me up." The dialogue gives you three options: ask what happened, ask how you can help, or say "Let's go". The wiki notes that "Let's go" simply starts the building phase, so you can skip the questions if you already know the plan.

Where do you get Happy's Scythe?
The scythe is lying at the campfire next to Happy's head, and you can take it. The Update Log says that it starts at level one when you pick it up. It is not a normal weapon, which is the whole point: it is the "special weapon" the game keeps telling you about when you try to hit a web with an axe.
| Scythe level | Damage (Update Log) | Hits to destroy a web |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | 15 | 10 (Update Log) or 13 (Webs page) |
| Level 2 | 40 | 4 |
| Level 3 | under 60 | 1 |
The two wiki pages disagree on the level 1 number. The Update Log entry says 10 hits, while the Webs page says 13. Treat it as "around ten or a bit more" and do not plan a speedrun around the exact count. Levels 2 and 3 match on both pages.
How webs work
Webs are a temporary addition. According to the wiki they spawn "very commonly" all over the map, and they stop spawning at around campfire level 5. If you hit one with any normal weapon, or shoot it, the game answers with the message "You need a special weapon to clear this." Only the scythe works.

The Webs page describes two real kinds of web:
- Ball webs. These are the round ones you find lying around the forest. They are the main target, and each one hides a random item.
- Decorative and obstacle webs. These sit around the structures that hold Happy's body parts. The wiki says some of them are one-tap, and one variant (listed as Web 3) needs a couple more hits than the others.

The wiki also says every hit on a web gives your scythe experience, and that even a one-tap web gives as much experience as a normal one. There is one catch that is easy to miss: if the scythe levels up while you are in the middle of breaking a web, the web resets. The page gives this example: you start on a level 1 web and the scythe reaches level 2 on hit 5, so you then need 4 more hits with the new level. Knowing that, it makes sense to level the scythe on small, quick targets rather than start a long web when the level-up is close. That tip is our own reading of the wiki rule, not something the wiki spells out.
What is inside a web?
The Update Log says each web gives one random item. The full list on the wiki is:
| Possible reward | Notes |
|---|---|
| Pumpkins | Food, one of the best hunger items |
| Old Radios, Broken Fans | Scrap for the crafting bench |
| Cultist Gems | Valuable crafting material |
| Berries, Morsel, Pumpkin pie | Food |
| Mossy Coins, Coal | Currency and fuel |
| Wooden Chairs | Furniture-style item |
| Old Axe Cultists, Spear Cultists | Enemies |
| Scorpions, Frogs | Creatures |
Yes, the list includes living enemies. That means breaking a web next to your campfire is not always free loot. The wiki does not say how often each result appears, so we cannot give you odds. If you are playing with a team, keep someone nearby with a weapon ready in case a cultist pops out.
Leveling the scythe
The wiki says you can level the scythe by hitting webs and by killing entities. The Reaping badge page repeats this: use the scythe to attack enemies and other entities until it reaches level 3. So you do not need to farm only webs. A reasonable plan is:
- 1Take the scythe from the campfire as soon as it is available.
- 2Use it on webs you find close to camp. Each hit gives experience.
- 3When enemies come to you, switch to the scythe for a few swings if you are safe. The wiki says kills with it count toward leveling.
- 4Keep a normal weapon on your hotbar for real danger. Level 1 does only 15 damage according to the Update Log.
The wiki does not publish how much experience each level needs, so we are not going to guess a number.

The Ram, the culprit
The Ram is one of the four secondary monsters. According to the wiki, it spawns at night when the volcano biome is present (it is replaced by The Cat in the jungle and by The Owl in the snow biome). It cannot be killed or tamed, it can be stunned by the campfire or a flashlight while walking, but not while charging, and you avoid the charge by moving left or right because its turning is poor. During Halloween it wears a pumpkin that hides its eyes and mouth, and the antlers are still visible. Nothing on the wiki says the scythe can hurt it.
Badges linked to the scythe
Three temporary badges came with this update, and two of them depend directly on the scythe.
| Badge | What to do | Stars | Diamonds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reaping | Get Happy's Scythe to level 3 | 1.5 | 5 |
| Sweeping | Destroy 200 webs with the scythe | 2.5 | 8 |
| Strawcraft | Help your team rebuild Happy | 2 | 8 |

Earning all three gives the Happy's Cart furniture item, according to the Update Log. For Strawcraft, the wiki says it counts as soon as Happy is rebuilt, you do not need to get him off the ram, and it only counts the first time. One important rule from the Badges page: no badges can be earned during update parties, so do not try to farm these in the party lobby.
Tips for playing with a team
The wiki describes Strawcraft as something you do with your team, so this update is friendlier to groups than to solo players. A few ideas that follow from the facts above, none of them tested by us in the game:
- Let each player who wants a badge spend some time with the scythe on easy webs near camp.
- Keep one player with a ranged weapon or a strong melee weapon on guard, since a web can hide an enemy.
- Use the early campfire levels for web farming, because webs stop spawning around campfire level 5.
Quick summary
- The scythe sits at the campfire with Happy's head and starts at level 1.
- Only the scythe breaks webs, and every hit gives it experience.
- Three levels: 15, 40 and under 60 damage, with about 10 or more, 4 and 1 hits per web.
- Webs hide one random item each, and the list includes enemies.
- Webs stop spawning around campfire level 5.
- This is limited-time content, so do the badges while the event is live.
What we could not confirm
The wiki does not list how many webs spawn per run, the experience needed per level, or whether the scythe works on every entity. It also does not say when this Halloween content ends. This guide is based only on what the wiki says today, and we have not played the update ourselves. If a number changes in a later patch, the Update Log is the page to check first.
