About

is one of the four secondary monsters in the game (alongside The Cat, The Owl and The Bat) of 99 nights in the forest. It is one of the 3 monsters that have a 1/3 chance of spawning depending on which of the Jungle Biome, Snow Biome or Volcano biome is present. The Ram will only spawn if the Volcano is present - if it is Jungle, The Ram is replaced by The Cat, and if it is the Snow, The Ram is replaced by The Owl.

The Ram — In-Depth Analysis

The Ram is one of the four secondary monsters in 99 Nights in the Forest, and it belongs to the same unkillable class as the Owl, Cat and Bat — its HP is listed as "N/A," meaning no weapon you carry will ever scratch it. Don't waste swings; this is strictly an avoidance encounter.

Its defining trait is biome lock. The Ram is the Volcanic Biome variant of the rotating secondary threat — the game picks 1-in-3 between Jungle, Snow and Volcano, and the Ram only spawns when the Volcano is the active biome. Roll Jungle and you get the Cat instead; roll Snow and the Owl replaces it. So encountering the Ram tells you immediately that lava terrain is in play this run.

It deals 25 damage per hit, the standard for this monster tier. Mercifully, its walkspeed is only 30 — the slowest of the secondary monsters — which gives you a genuine chance to outrun it on foot, unlike the much faster Owl. Keep close to the campfire safe zone at night, use light to stun and disengage, and exploit that sluggish pace to put distance between you and it. It drops nothing, so there's no payoff to fighting — outlast it until dawn.
