Secrets Master — Middle Town
Costs & Requirements
Description
Advanced Combat is a First Sea fighting style added in Update 30 as the direct successor to Combat. It has no mastery requirement from Combat and no Beli or fragment price, but it is one of the most time-consuming styles to obtain: you must finish the Island Secrets, complete a teleporter puzzle and defeat every awakened boss using only Combat. Its moveset is Meteor Tackle (Z), Ground Breaker (X) and Charged Punch (C).
Pros & Cons
✅ Pros
- ▸Requires no mastery in other fighting styles to obtain.
- ▸Most attacks are good for grinding.
- ▸Z Meteor Tackle has a considerably short cooldown and gives good mobility, even midair.
- ▸X Ground Breaker has the highest damage of any single melee move, works as a stun when teaming, and drains many dodges if Instinct-tricked.
- ▸C Charged Punch is a good combo finisher and reversal, with high damage and AoE if held.
❌ Cons
- ▸Relatively hard to obtain for most First Sea players.
- ▸Slow M1 speed and incredibly low range.
- ▸Z Meteor Tackle can be dodged with Instinct and deals low damage.
- ▸X Ground Breaker is hard to hit, has a small AoE, can be Instinct-tricked, and its random landing point makes it unreliable for combos. It also has very high endlag if it hits, which hurts against multiple enemies.
- ▸C Charged Punch breaks Instinct only at the closest range, and has high knockback, low range, a long cooldown and a long charge time.
Moves & Abilities
4 movesThe user punches with their fists 4 times: right hook, left hook, uppercut and a punch. Same as Combat.
The user dashes shortly forward, tackling enemies ahead for decent damage. Similar to Combat Z, but it can be aimed in any direction.
The user slams the ground, creating a crater. On a hit, the opponent is sent flying into rocks and slammed back down. Only breaks Instinct on the first hit.
The user pulls back a fist and punches, creating a shockwave. Holding the move for 2 seconds makes the shockwave larger and longer. Only breaks Instinct if the opponent is extremely close.
Tips
There is no level requirement for unlocking Advanced Combat besides the levels you earn from completing the Island Secrets. This also applies to all the steps mentioned above including talking the Remove Blox Fruit NPC. Server hopping or restarting a private server is recommended for completing the step for killing every awakened boss with Combat. Upper Skylands has 2 awakened bosses. You'll know which one awakens as they both have 2 different hints from the Secrets Master tied to their awakening minigame. Such as for Sky warlord, the secret master's hint is "Forecast for a storm at Upper Skylands" while for Lightning god "It's a beautiful day at Upper Skylands." Private Servers are recommended for completing time-based island secrets events as the player can choose which island an event will spawn on. The player can use Ghost's "V" ability, Buddha, Cyborg V3's Energy Core, Angel V4's King's Rule, and Draco V3's Flash Step passive to make killing each awakened boss significantly easier. The player can use Ghost's "V" to spawn clones that will also use Combat to deal damage, as long as the player is holding Combat out. The player must be careful to not swap to a Sword or Gun, as the clones will start to use that instead, resulting in the attempt failing. Other players can help the player to kill the Awakened Bosses. As long as the player uses only Combat, the other players do not need to use Combat as well, although they won't get credit for Advanced Combat. ==Abilities== Skill . Applies a small soft stun after the final slam, allowing the user to extend should they have a fast enough move (e.g: Sand Coffin) to do so. |[C] Charged Punch Good finisher for combos. Good reversal. High damage and AoE if held. Can chain directly into Ground Breaker if aimed downwards. |-|Cons |General Relatively hard to obtain for most First Sea players. Slow M1 speed. Enemy's landing point is random, requiring the user to actively watch where the opponent lands to utilize in a combo. Won't pin enemies down if Instinct-tricked up high, midair. Can be instinct-tricked. Very high endlag if hit, which can be a great issue when fighting multiple enemies. Endlag extends 0.2 seconds after the stun has ended, making it nearly useless against a well timed Flash Step. |[C] Charged Punch Breaks Instinct only at closest range. High knockback. Low range. Long cooldown. Long charge time. ==Trivia== This is the only improved version of a fighting style without a mastery requirement from its previous version, which is Combat. The player can acquire this fighting style at any level. However, the minimum Level a user can have to get this fighting style is 196, due to the levels given by completing all of the Island Secrets. Using [X] Ground Breaker in longer lasting AoE moves can hit during the stun breaking Instinct, which allows it to become true. Only moves that break Instinct and have a long duration can do this. For example Skull Guitar [X] or Venom [C]. ==Change History== ==Navigation==

Other Fighting Styles
Advanced Combat — In-Depth Analysis
Advanced Combat is a First Sea fighting style added in Update 30 ("Sea 1 Rework"). The wiki describes it as a direct successor to Combat, taught by the Secrets Master in Middle Town. It costs no Beli and no fragments, and it needs no mastery in other fighting styles, which makes it the only improved fighting style without a mastery requirement from its previous version. What it does ask for is time: the wiki calls it arguably one of the most time-consuming styles to obtain, because of its time-based steps and many random spawns.
The route goes through the new Island Secrets. You complete all of them, talk to the Secrets Master and choose "Tell me some stories", then use the Middle Town teleporter to visit islands in the order he gives and in the sequence the wiki lists, returning to the Starter Island for the final secret. After that you remove your fruit and your fighting style at the Remove Blox Fruit NPC at the top of Prison to receive Combat, and defeat one of each Awakened Boss using only Combat. Each kill restores part of the Middle Town fountain, and once it is whole the Secrets Master hands over the style and lets you swap between Combat and Advanced Combat. Finishing it also grants the title Class S. There is no level requirement beyond the levels the Island Secrets give, though the wiki notes the minimum level at which you can finish it is 196.
The moveset is small. The normal attack is the same four-punch string as Combat. Z, Meteor Tackle (mastery 1, 15 energy, about 8 second cooldown) is a short dash that can be aimed in any direction. X, Ground Breaker (mastery 100, 30 energy, about 13 seconds) slams the ground and sends a hit opponent into rocks; the wiki lists it as the highest-damage single melee move, but hard to hit, with a small AoE and heavy endlag. C, Charged Punch (mastery 200, 50 energy, about 17 seconds) creates a shockwave that grows if held for 2 seconds, but only breaks Instinct at very close range.
Overall the wiki lists good grinding use, strong mobility and a useful stun when teaming as pros, and slow M1s, very low range and a demanding unlock as cons. These details come from the community wiki and may change with patches; nothing here is based on our own in-game testing.
