Flail is a Rare-rarity sword introduced in Update 10, obtainable exclusively in the Second Sea. It is one of the more unconventional swords in the game — a chained weapon that prioritizes mobility and utility over raw damage. Its ability to blind enemies and break Instinct gives it a utility profile that sits closer to a support disruption tool than a primary damage dealer.

How to Obtain

Flail drops from the Smoke Admiral boss at the Hot and Cold island in the Second Sea. There is no Beli purchase option, so you will need to farm the Smoke Admiral repeatedly until the weapon drops. Plan boss farm runs around respawn timers and bring a build strong enough to clear the encounter efficiently.

Role: Mobility Tool and Instinct Breaker

Flail's standout feature is its high mobility — it provides movement utility that makes it valuable not just for damage but for traversal and escape. Its ability to blind enemies creates a disorientation window that can be devastating if followed up quickly with a high-damage fruit or fighting-style combo. It also breaks Instinct and applies a good stun, giving it legitimate PvP application as a combo setup tool.

Weaknesses are real and significant: Flail deals low damage on its own, struggles in aerial combat, and can be difficult to land consistently because of small or tricky hitboxes. Against Blade users it has zero effect, limiting matchup coverage.

Tip: Use Flail's mobility for gap-closing and escape rather than relying on it as a damage source — activate its blind/stun to create the opening, then immediately follow with a high-burst fruit skill for the kill.
