How to survive Creak
- At low aggression, a few seconds of looking scares it off; staring too long raises aggression.
- The lower its arms, the higher its aggression; hands up to its face mean it is not aggressive.
- If its left hand appears in your view, turn around and look at it to scare it off.
- Getting behind Creak, for example by going down the stairs, results in instant death.
- Fire Sprinklers temporarily stun Creak.

Where Creak appears
Creak guide
Creak is a tall, lanky figure of concrete and rebar covered in fleshy holes, with a single glowing eye. It is the main stalker of The Stairwell, added on August 28, 2026. It breaks through a large metal door once you reach Landing 10 and keeps shadowing you from there. It is classed as neutral and fatal.
A shy hunter
Creak only moves closer when you look away and backs off when you look at it. It also avoids light. Its arms are the aggression gauge: hands raised to its face means it is calm, and the closer they hang to the floor the angrier it is. Look for a few seconds at low aggression and it runs off, but stare too long, or stand too close, and the meter rises until it charges and kills on contact.
Sneak attacks
If you have not looked at it for a while, it creeps up behind you and its left hand enters your view. Turn around and look at it: it flees and you earn the Paparazzi badge. Never step behind Creak, for example by going down the stairs, because that is instant death. It can force Meld doors open, and Fire Sprinklers stun it for a while.
